munin
Chrono has it mostly right. Yes you guys can convert your dreads -- just like it says in the rules. However in terms of models on the base we only want the Dread..not a dread and a marine, not a dread stomping a nid, not a dread being ridden by Eldar, etc. etc....just the Dread.... So take the contents of Dreadnaught box A. Add Forgeworld parts, Greenstuff Dragon pelts..whatever so long as its is GW stuff AND NOT ANOTHER MODEL OTHER THAN THE DREAD. That said Vivi, I don't recall your prior dread so I can't say one way or the other if there is something on it that would make a new version ineligible or not. You can PM me a picture if you want. umm.. my dread has a "head-hunter" motif... therefore skulls and chopped off heads are on it. which are not FW or GS, but pieces of other GW models... is it legal to enter? Commander Y
Ahab and Munin: http://www.duckblindminiatures.com/images/funstuff/mackarel.jpg Let's have some common sense, folks. We want it focused on the DREAD. That's why we don't want "other figures." We don't want basing or casualties or anything else to get so out of hand it looks like a diorama. Gee whiz.

Brother Angvar
i have a dread with gazghull thraka's power claw. is that okay?
mystlyfe
Id assume so, but im not a mod. And that would actually look pretty cool if it matched up correctly... *contemplates stealing idea, but then realised mackerels are better....*
Kurgan the Lurker
have a dread with gazghull thraka's power claw. is that okay? It is a conversion right? Which is allowed in the rules (I assume the power claw replaces the dreads power fist?) Now if it was the Dread AND Ghazgull then that would NOT be allowed. JMcL63
Anyhoo, I haven't entered a B&C painting comp since the first, and that was because I had a valid mini ready and waiting. This time I'm hoping that I can get a dread ready for the B&C because it will also be an entry in the GD UK 2004. I've got just over 2 months, which just happens to be the exact same timetable required for GD UK (thank you B&C!). I've got the bits out of the box; some of them are already glued together; and I know where the first saw cuts are going to have to go... Fingers crossed...
Alcyon
I'm entering! See ya there. Just wondering-what's the reason for not allowing it to be on other websites? I'm assuming it's so we don't know who has painted what, right?

I'm assuming it's so we don't know who has painted what, right? As I recall, that was the reasoning in the previous contests when the tradition was started. Cheers

igor
I love the fish. Count me in, even though the Dread is going to look like crap, at least it will get me off my bum and working on it. (I've only had the wrapped box sitting in my room for 6 months now :/ ).

Ranulf
I) What about the better part of a marine crucified on the back? II) (if (I) is allowed) How strict is the 60mm base rule? m3ntor, http://www.duckblindminiatures.com/images/funstuff/mackarel.jpg 'Better part of a marine' - Do you really need to be told? You have the choice of using a 60mm base or a 60mm base. Hell, if you really wanted to, you could use a 60mm base. Clear? -Ran

warsmith
I have a question. The contest is for a dreadnought only, an out of the box dread. Also it maynot contain other models. What about forgeworld dreadnought bases for them? they are 'out of the box' but contain parts of other models? Whats the ruling with this? cheers Dan
Elijah7
Personally, before asking such a question, I would: 1) take a good, hard look at the first page of the contest thread, where Kurgan wrote: For those asking about additional models being added: I will point to a key word in rule 4 before I begin to beat you senseless with a fish tongue.gif and then perhaps you will see the answer you seek. Note the area in bold: 4. The contest is Dreadnaught only. Entries may not contain any figures beyond those included in the box for the model. If it doesn't come in the box don't add it to your entry. No dioramas, duel scenes or the like will be accepted. A helmet wouldn't be a figure, nor would a door or a rock (I am gonna try and squeeze templar14 into the same airlock with Bite the Dust for that one I think). A torso, body, guy crushed in the power claw of the dread, guy crawling on dread etc. etc. would be a figure. 2) then look at the forgeworld bases and see if they contain figures or not. No fish for you, and soon repetetive questions like this will simply be deleted. Kurgan's arm is getting tired, and we are running out of mackerel :P
NoodleBoy
Argh, I hate to ask a question, but here it goes: What if its a complete conversion, but still is agme legal? OKay, that was vauge, I'll explain: Wanting to do a humble "re-design" of the dreadnaught, but use all dreadnaught parts from the plastic set, plus additional green stuff details (ie scrolls, drapery/fluting if that sort of stuff is allowed) to give away the basic idea of the look (i'm not even sure if I can make the deadline or will even try) but make it look like a giant space marine minus the shoulder pads. oh, and i'm not reallly sure if this is allowed, but showing the marine inside (not a removable sarcaphogus, he's exposed is the idea) that count? humble questions. no need to use the fish, I mostly lurk :P
NoodleBoy
oh crap, one more thing. Can someone (if not done already) provide links/examples to the available patterns? I know what the Tycho pattern is, but I've never seen the Stern patterm. And I know its not legal, but what the heck is the Mortis pattern? O.o
Chronophague
Noodle boy. Mortis pattern is Dark Angels dread with twin long reange weapons, like lascannons etc... so no close combat weapons or such, just double armament. Cheers
Dark Wolf Commander Ragnar
Huzzah! One MkIV dreadnought in my new chapter colours with las cannon and power fist, snow base and maybe a guard helmet coming right up! R - doing a dread, on a 60mm base, with smalll conversion items made of GW parts, with only small piece of another model to add to the scenery. Sheesh.
