Hounds of Cu Chulain

celtic names are easy! just take a look at alot of welsh names. with all those l's abd y's they look celtic'ish enough in my opinion. for more just look in any british history book or site.

Names of Celtic Gods and Heroes

about halfway down this site there is a table with names for some celtic gods and heroes!!

Hope this helps.

Ok, its now over here in Liber, so if you want painting advice, post another thread over there

For Names, Sons of [insert celtic god] always sounds good. Using the link posted by Brother-Fenix you can get the following:

Sons of Sucellus - Hammer God, so maybe tanks, termies

Sons of Epona - Horse Goddess, so bikes, speeders

Sons of Andrasta - Victory God, so a proud chapter :)

Just some examples how you could take the god's type and make a theme out of it.

Ferrata

*ahem*

The Sons of Dagda

Lol, , thats a low way of uping your thread.

Anyway, is the Sons of Dagda a single chapter with different people doing different companies or something more along the lines of the Aegyptus one? If you get enough people you should look into doing an Aegyptus styled one.

Ferrata

I am not a proud man. :)

Right now we were thinking more along the lines of each person doing a differant company, simply because it works with the clan structure. However, if people are interested, I'm sure an Aegyptyus-style project would be interesting. Thanks for the thought...

Yup, Barret's got a handle on things. We only have three companies defined and left the ones rather unmentioned so other people could use their own names and tartans for them. I'm getting ready to head out of town right now, but when I get back in a few weeks, I'll be working on somesort of codex and campaign for them. Feel free to join in with it if you want.

This is probably the most posts I've ever gotten. Anyway, I don't know whether or not the Hounds fit in with the theme of your project, but I guess we shall see. As soon as I find my D-cam, I'll post a few pics of my WIP commander.

As to the Aegytpus project, I believe Ironloki did something kinda like that, so maybe you should talk to him.

Nephren-ka started the Aegytpus project, and still continues to produce fluff for it. Its just that loki's chapter has became kinda well known ::cuss: Well, at least to a few people

Ferrata

Yeah it was all Nephs idea (jumps outta spitlight before Neph smites him) its Just I annoy ferrata more.

So what additional help are you needing especially after you started new topic (I think its better to keep to the one thread)

Do you believe that this chapter has already been created by GW? I've never heard of them to be honest

  • 3 weeks later...
  • 1 year later...

My own chapter of pictish/scottish themed marines (moving to england will make a bod long for home) are called the Hounds of Athol and weare the scottish rugby colors. Dark blue armour mainly with trims in dark purple. the odd beaky might get a pruple beak.

Generally i use space wolf models and space wolf rules to represent them. use space wolf marking as well and painting style so you get plenty contrast. I have also mixed my models with chaos mauraders so some have bare torsos and arms.

kerns - blood claws

clansmen - grey hunter

bonnochts - long fangs

gallowglasses - wolf guard

thane - wolf lord

druid - wolf priest

seer - rune priest

iron master - iron priest

also Hounds of "insert" seems to be exceptionally popular for these type of armies perhaps they all descend from a common ancestor.....

(early people in britain only started being called celts by a bunch of victorian in the late 1700's. Celts were a european people, see asterix the gual etc)
