Tormentus
Hello Some of you may remember i was looking for a chapter to use along side my Radical Inquisitor: finally i'm settled on one. The Marines Exemplar - they have minimal fluff and a scheme i like. Officially their fluff is (well what i could find - there may be more in some EoT roundups - anyone know?): They're part of the Astartes Praeses - a group of chapters founded to guard the EoT - along with the relictors among others. They acted in the 13th crusade and commited all but one reserve company. Their Chapter Master, Maxim Absolon was MIA on a jungle moon after rescuing an astropathic team from a traitor guard push towards Belis Corona. His T-hawk was shot down but the majority of his 1st company escaped. His 2nd in command - Captain Raoul took over and took command of the chapter, distancing them from Logan Grimnars command. Now the un offical stuff i'm considering adding: The chapter was based on a starfort that traveled between 3 systems surrounding the eye. Cadia > Belis Corona > Nemesis Tessera. Everyone knows whats in cadia, Belis Corona is a big old naval sub system, quite rich. Finally Nemesis Tessera is a Inquisition base. The chapter continues to fight in the war despite Absolon being MIA. They are notified by an Inquisitor from Nemesis Tessera that he has found the Master, and as any chapter would they mobilize to extract him. Maxim Absolon has been fighting a guerilla war against the Guard that took the moon, he has to use whats at hand and given that their traitors this includes some chaos weaponry. Inquisitor Aesop and the acting Chapter Master make planet fall on the moon, extracting Maxim. Aesop is a radical, and thus is interested in Absolon's use of demon weapons. (Their intrests are mutual) Aesop as a Radical researches the use of demon weapons and possession, having worked with the relictors and the blood ravens? He introduces Absolon to a representative from the relictors he's worked with. With the Inquisitor Lords blessing, the marines exemplar begin using demon weapons against chaos, much like the relictors and also researching the use of possession etc. The inquisitor and the chapter being to work closely together - experimenting with possession etc on the battle field. Perhaps the Marines Exemplar take heavy losses during the campaign, however they're on good terms with the local inquisitor lord (aesop) and as such are afforded certain help another chapter may not get? Especially since the relictors have now been excommunicated by a rival Inquisitor. This would make Aesop all the more keen to hang on to the Marines Exemplar. Perhaps the chapter is somewhat taken under the wing of the Inquisition? Similar to the deathwatch/grey knights, but un officially and with a radical bent? Maybe like the Red hunters (having the =I= on their armour). I went into a bit of a rant mode then. I hope it all makes sense. Now does anyone have any input on my un offical fluff ideas? any major loop holes? or ideas, other elements to include? Thanks for the help. Aurelius Rex
The use of daemon weapons makes them seem a little too much like the relictors to me. The daemon weapon angle seems a bit out of the blue to be honest, as nothing hints at it in the GW fluff beforehand. Also, considering that the relictors have so recently, and so publicly been purged and driven into hiding as heretics for just this kind of thing, it seems odd that another chapter would so readily do the same. Overall, the idea of rescuing the chapter master from behind enemy lines is a nice hook, and I would examine that in preference to the Daemon Weapon angle. If you are intent on playing a daemon weapon wielding army then a group of Relictors on the run from the imperium, but still fighting to save it (they think) would feel more satisfying. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77261-marines-exemplar/#findComment-889740 Share on other sites
Manaheim
:ot: My friend is a Counter-Strike nut, he's on a team called Exemplar. Anyways, he plays DoW and has a SM army called Exemplar. Black, red and white, and best of all, slightly twisted. Your idea seems cool, but smells like Relictors too much. Try and distance them from them abit more My 2 cents Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77261-marines-exemplar/#findComment-890137 Share on other sites
