Assault Brother Pervazius
It has come to my attention that the most valuable weapon in any space marine army is the revered Bolter. Now ive been lookin to create a new chapter centered around the bolter and here's what i got so far. Army equipment/squad organisation: all tactical squads, long range firesupport dreads, and land raider crusaders. Every unit in my army will have bolters or weapons that are derived from bolters (i.e heavy bolters and bolt pistols) Color Scheme: a snazzy coat of neon purple and yellow outlining on shoulders. Tactica: Basically my army will form a "bolter line" so to speak with all my marines forming a huge line sometimes 2 or 3 squads deep if at all possible and just sitting back and waiting while the dreadnoughts and land raider crusaders sit behind the line, i figure anything will die once they get within 12" of my army Fluff: Due to forge world complications (i.e chapter master Ryanius Carrolington layed down the exterminatus on them after finding a single chaos cultist on their planet) and the chapter only has the STC for bolter style weapons, plus considering they are the best weapons the emperor ever created who needs forge worlds anyway. My chapter master is equipped with dual golden heavy bolters (chapter specific spcl wpns) im not so sure about traits so any tips on those would be helpful, and any general comments i.e location of chapter etc. would be excellent in furthering my goal thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/ Share on other sites
Ferrata
My chapter master is equipped with dual golden heavy bolters (chapter specific spcl wpns Explain further please? A master with a heavy weapon ::cuss: TT, anti-tank would be a major problem, seeing as your "heavy" weapon is only s5. Do well against horde armies though. I think it could work, but it screams lots of under equipped troops, kinda like the Russians during WW2, so maybe you could do something with that Ferrata Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/#findComment-894511 Share on other sites
Darth_Lunchbox
you could have that these guys see alot of combat with armys with lots of troopes like, traitor guard, orks, or nids. Also im wonderin how a marine could carry a twin linked heavy bolter(or if its master crafted) marines are hard but not that hard, anyway pretty good fluff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/#findComment-894535 Share on other sites
Tubal
For anti-tank you could use AT-rifles instead of say missile launchers. They were used early in WW2 as the main AT weapon and later against transports and light armour. It's basically an enormous rifle with armour-piercing rounds. Convert a bolter with a long, thick barrel and a cushion to absorb the recould and use them as your AT-weapons. Here's a link to a russian example, although other nations used them too: PTRD-1941 A heavy bolter round could quite easily be modified to an effective AT-round, just use a shaped charge instead of the normal explosives in it or fill it with uranium  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/#findComment-894840 Share on other sites
Assault Brother Pervazius
Another piece of fluff i have just come up with is that they were all put in stasis sleep/cryostasis w/e you wanna call it, until they are needed so basically they never age and therefore they live alot longer. and i do like the russian infantry sledgehammer combat style, thank you for bringing that up and basically im hopeing to make a marine swarm army of sorts. As for my commander not being able to carry dual heavy bolters. lets just say he is a beast among marines, the model has him with a big cigar in his mouth and two huge heavy bolters one in each hand and a big ammo pack on his back, trust me he can carry them. Plus they are golden and made especially just for him so they are light and stuff, Well it has been brought to my attention that i need anti tank weaponry. Well my men would rather die than carry around weakling weapons such as melta's or missiles or anything bearing the name las. But i would be willing to let them carry assault cannons because they are just about bolters so i can use them as anti tank and with rending they can get the job done. Battle Cry: still workin on it any tips on traits or any other questions at all just gimme a holler ::cuss: (i love that face) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/#findComment-895084 Share on other sites
Mutt-Man!
But i would be willing to let them carry assault cannons because they are just about bolters so i can use them as anti tank and with rending they can get the job done. Battle Cry: still workin on it <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Assault cannons came to mind as well, but the sheer lack of assault cannons for heavy support also comes to mind, have your dreads become heavy support, and your devastators become elites, and utilise their veteran ability tank hunter, so they can harm AV 12 vehicles with heavy bolters. Have a bunch of land speeders with AC running around. Besides if krak and melta grenades were utilised they arent guns they're explosives, use them with rhinos that have an additional pintle storm bolter. Use terminators as well if you want more assault cannons, would be quite a force. HQ Anything you want. Elites Devistator Squad, Terminators of any kind, no heavy flamers. (Techmarine?) Troops Scouts and Tactical marines, beefed as you wish. (Scouts with sniper rifles?) Fast Attack Land Speeders with Heavybolters, Assault Cannons, Bikes with bolter tech only. Assault Marines. Heavy Support Baal Predator if you opponent will allow it, Dread with Assault Cannon. Krak and Melta Grenades are useful for getting close. HQ with the two heavy bolters, I'd suggest you place this character in a special character section and if they're allowed, he's allowed. oops forgot to add battlecry: "Feel the emperor's divine wrath!" - comes to mind when the holy bolter slays an enemy. Ferrata
I would also make a HQ with normal weapon choices, so you have a back-up if the enemy says no to the heavy weaponed equipped one. As for a list, HQ is your master Elites - Dev's with HB's and Termies Troops - Tacticals with HB's Fast - All choices fit Heavy - Dreads (ass.cannon and sb) Devs with HB This will use up both your traits, but could make a nice list Ferrata Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/#findComment-895494 Share on other sites
Tubal
You could give the master a Kai gun from the chaos codex and call it something else. That way you could point to an existing weapon available to characters, you'll convince more people to let you use it that way. Note that it's still illegal so have an extra character ready just in case. The Kai gun is described as a huge heavy bolter and you could mastercraft it to simulate having two. Ferrata
Well, he could take a command squad, equip it with 2 HB's, and say the Master carries them both. Awkward, yes, Legal, kinda :cuss Ferrata Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/#findComment-895808 Share on other sites
Assault Brother Pervazius
lol of course my command squad would have HB's but ill just ask my opponents if i can use the dual hvy bolter cmndr if not he will just have a master crafted bolter Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77708-emperors-bolters/#findComment-895846 Share on other sites
ddtedie
You could always do what the old Marnus Calgar model did, and just call them Storm Bolters intead of heavy bolters. That is an option if your opponent won't budge on the dual heavy bolters. Just a suggestion mind you.
