Emperors-Scythe
Well brothers, while designing my current SOTE force, i thought about organization, and now that the chapter is down to 2 companies, would it be cooler to build my force into smaller "gatherings" of squads, like dividing my company into small taskforces? Librarian- Melechor
I don't think it really matters what you do, you could make a company "remnants", like all the remaining forces from one of the SOTE battle companies, its mostly up to you to decide. Jern The Hammer
I dont think splitting up your squads would really reflect the TO&E of your SotE. It makes sense that they would either combine squads or dismantle some and add more members into others to replace losses. fearlessgod
I agree with Jern on this. Seems to me you might try to use less tac squads and more scout squads. Also, less plasma weapons as their resources might be a bit thin. Just a thought... fearlessgod. Plisken
Well, the Scythes really aren't one of the Chapters covered by the IA, so I'm throwing it over to Liber. You'll generally get a better response on Chapter history questions there in any case. Aurelius Rex
In terms of chapter organisation, I think it would be completely up to you to decide how a decimated chapter arranges it's affairs. Think about it systematically: - What was lost during the escape from the hive fleet? (Less heavy / exotic equipment and vehicles?) - How does this affect the character of the chapter? (view of the hated enemy, lots of scouts as they try to rebuild, few tacticals, but the ones who survived are hardened vets with bionics?) - Would such low numbers would they want to cluster together for protection, performing company level actions where a single bad battle could wipe out the majority of the chapter, or would they instead play it smarter and fight in small hit-and-run battles where their skill, brains and mobility would count for them? Some things to consider. Once you get into the mindset of your chapter then it will be easier to grow the fluff organically and believably. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77791-scythes-of-the-emperor/#findComment-896574 Share on other sites
soldier of Fenris
excellent another scythes fan the second best SM chapter! some helpful members gave me this link it has some stuff on the scythes so it may help you http://www.howlinggriffon.co.uk/sotecodex.htm basically im going for small mechanised combat squads that go for "in and out" warfare as to avoid long firefights good luck and we my yet rebuild the chapter! Kastellan Kong
I suggest you get your hands on the Index Astartes IV as there is a great article about the Crimson Fists in there, who are currently in about the same predicament as the scythes (ie, almost wiped out)... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/77791-scythes-of-the-emperor/#findComment-896878 Share on other sites

Quannum
Forgive my ignorance....but could someone fill me in on the background of the SOTE, I don't understand why they're all wiped out. You've got me interested in them now. Do they have any special rules?
