Re-inventing Fear

I say do a large sleek blade (even sleeker than soul edge, but just as large), in some sort of dark metal, with an inlaid eye emblem near the hilt, and with a lightning bolt pattern carved along the sides of the blade - coming from the eye.

If you do the main colours of the blade as metal shades, and have the bionic arm the same metal shades, it will tie in like soul edge does to nightmare's arm.

You could even skip the hand all together and graft the blade to a bionic joint on the end of the arm, similar to one of the Iron Hands bitz. Or is that too Iron Warriors?

recently found this and I love the DP I first thought about that as the conversion I was going to do then I figured it would be too much of a hastle... plust the sword looks to small in the DP's hand.. with some persuation Imma paint him in Black Legion colors (the whole sword with the living eye prospect) and Im going to use the SC2 blade, might check out the original soul edge to see if its better looking but Im keeping that overall look..

he'll probably made from WHFB Chaos bits for the body and I'll keep him true to the SC fluff look wise.. only he'll be more badarse! Since I have the parts Im going to make the sword first and do alittle posty! You've given me a clear idea of what I want by looking at yours, and hopefully I can see your final project to find out how well you did! kudos and good luck brother!

Well,if that last post wasn't inspiration to take Knightmare in a unique direction,I don't know what is. :)

I'm leaning towards the ideas Tudor came up with for the as-yet-renamed-sword,and the cybernetic claw idea I came up with.

Nephren-Ka is drawing up some concept art to help in the decision process.

I'm starting the GS work today on the legs.

Wish me luck folks. ;)

Thanks Tubal. :D

New troop done.

I think I'm getting better at Terror Markings. ^_^

And to show I'm not completly crippled by fear in regards to sculpting, here are a few current shots of Knightmare's legs and chest so far.

The chest needs a little clean up work, and I may add some form of icon to it.

I know the sculpted ribbing coulda been done better, but it's pretty good for a novice, right?

I hardly ever log on anymore, I think the last time I posted was four months ago or something, but I really did need to take the time on this occasion to stick my head in.

I'm loving what you've got going here - you're turning the NL from an army I always saw as the product of a lame concept into something I can not only respect, but enjoy immensely - so keep it going man, whatever you do. I too have toyed with the 40k-ifying of Nightmare from SC, and have even suggested him to others on the board a few years ago when I knew I wasn't capable of pulling it off right but thought he fitted perfectly for their commander or special character concept. Nothing ever came to fruition though, so I'm glad to see someone with your creative flare and modelling/painting style having what looks like an honest crack at doing it properly. Much kudos, good work so far, and don't stop

Thanks for the compliments,guys. :D

Judging from some recent threads here,it seems a fever has struck my fellow Frater! ;)

I consider it good though,as it's driving me to make my Knightmare more "mine" in nature,as opposed to a direct transition of the character from Soul Calibur.

I should be getting the final components needed Wed,and soon after I should be able to post pics of him fully assembled. :D

Another troop done.

two more til' I can post my first fully painted squad.

While I'm waiting for my order from GW to arrive,I thought I should make good use of my time and raid my bitz box.

This sick bugger is the result. He's one of the AC's in Knightmare's Chosen.

He was also inspired by a rather famous NL illustration.

So here is Desaad...

All he needs before painting is a few more mold lines removed and some GS work. :)

Nice conversion there Danek, it does look oddly like he is about to stab that poor catachan right in the armpit though - who knows, perhaps the armpit is the perfect place for some choice torturing?

Glad to hear I was of assistance refining the Knightmare ideas, my view on it is that, its all well and good to be inspired by computer games, films, and whathaveyou, but to make the result really brilliant, you need to work your own ideas into them.

40k scale Nightmare is someone elses idea made into a model. But a Nightlords charater with a parasitic-like sword, and a claw arm that seems to mirror it, is your own idea - just a little inspired that's all.

So yeah, keep up the good work, love the terror markings, can't wait to see Knightmare all done and dusted.

danek, if you want to be really cruel, with that guardsmen, give him a cut near "his kidneys", sort of like the nightlords marine just gave him one of the cruellest deaths possible, still holding him up to showing the screaming worm to his buddy's

as for Knightmare, chainmail on his shoulderpads would look cool, not covering it, but much like the excess toilet papaer loyalists carry on the trims, hanging down.

I like the work so far..are you going for the SC 1 Nightmare or SC2 look? (I cant remember and not gonna read through it all) or are you just going to give him the Medival knight look? Im curious as how you're going to do his weapon too.. I've ended up making the weapon, just gonna shave it and make it abit sharper looking.. anyhow Good luck bro! hope my TS marine out of a metal beaky works well enough *chuckles*

@Tudor:Thanks for the words,man.

Don't worry about originality. This is not Nightmare I'm creating,it is Knightmare,Lord Commander of the Night Lords Second Grand Company since the days of the Great Crusade. He will be mine, and he will be awesome. :)

@Beta IV:I'd love to see your artwork man.Feel free to PM it to me or post it here.

As for Dawn of War,tis' not to be.My computer is too shoddy to run it.

@Havock:I love the wound idea. Thanks for that. ^_^

And Knightmare will indeed have chainmail here and there, but how much remains to be seen.

@GeneralStukov:The look is very loosely inspired by the Nightmare version seen in SC2,as it is the most Night Lord like, however as I said he will definately be his own man, complete with a more unique and fitting sword.

Now off I go to cut a Catachan! :P

If it's not too late, you could make a heart or something out of GS, bore a hole out of the Guardsman's chest, and make the Night Lord show the Guardsman his heart. That is if he is still alive

nah, the kidneys are much more cruel, just a quick stab-stab and said person is going to die screaming for his mommy*hides for morale-knights*
