Failure590
Okay Im revising my Fluff as I made the mistake of trying to write fluff around traits, and it was coming very contrived and strained. Planet history and name is staying the same. So here it goes again... The chapters core tenet: Duty does not End with Death. - Marines of this chapter vernerate the dutiful and wise brethren of the chapter as only a battle brother who has lived long enough to become and elder knows the true meaning of devotion to duty. -The Average Marines of this chapter frequently would be considered veterans in many chapters, As a member cannot attain full battle honors without a personal sacrifice in a battle. This leads to an unusally high number of members with horriffic battle scars and bionic replacements. -Contrawise the beliefs lead to an inflated initate force, with many veterans serving long past the the normal time as a scout. - The chapter is not divided as per standard codex guidlines. It is divided into 6 clans with a triumvirate sitting in council as the leaders of the clans. The positions on each clans Triumvirate are held by battle brethren encased in an ancient dreadnoughts, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice of flesh and life to serve in an eternity of duty. -Sitting under the Triumvirate council is the chapter Brother captains and their attending staff. Each Brother Captain is assigned a Techmarine and Apothecary as part as the command staff. -The Chapters Chaplains serve a unique role in that they are entirely supernumery and have no defined role in the chapters organization. They are expected to rouse and incite the battle brethren according to the clans triumvirates orders to battle. Chaplains also are the keepers of the chapters lore keeping great sagas of the chapters heros. - The chapter has no librarians. Pyskers are not tolerated as it is seen as the ultimate folly to devolve into witchcraft and the warp. -Each clan operates on a basis of 2 squads tactical 2 devastator and 4 Scout company. Each Triumvirate changes additional units as they see fit. -When a battle is joined it is usally between one or two clan companies deployed. -The Triumvirate always joins the battle and are the lynchpin of many battle strategies. Tactical battlefield Command is left to the Clan Companies Master of Battle or Current Leader - The chapter has rarely been deployed as a whole. Each clan acts as an individual cell and only in times of great need or mutual defense will the clans unite. Since founding the entire chapter has been deployed but once. -4th founding from Iron Hands geneseed. - Chapter does not vernerate the machine or veiw flesh as weak as the parent chapter, It vernerates Wisdom and dedication to duty, replacement by Bionics is veiwed as an honorable sacrifice for a marine, but not becuase they veiw their own flesh as weak, but because the chapters marines are sworn to continue fighting, until released from their servitude by the Emperor.(Not going to happen) - The original Iron Hands that lead the CHapter during the period of founding were interred in the first dreadnoughts of the chapter. OF the original command guard only 3 remain. They form the Honor company of the chapter leading the largest Clan Hold settlement, effectively making them the first company. - The original command guard from the Iron Hands chapters terminator armor is only worn by each Clans Master of Battle. With Only 6 suits remaining. - Preferred tactics of the chapter is an infiltration to close quarters firefights followed by a spaceborn assualt from drop pod launched dreadnoughts and remaining forces. -Perferred weaponry: Standard tactical loadout with each clan being significantly different. Plasma weaponry is exceedingly rare and hard to maintain, only members of the honor guard or command squad may use such blessed weaponry. -Basic marine appearance. Taught grey skin due to living conditions on homeworld, extensive bionics, eyecolor is almost universally pigmented red to violet. Hair is grown long with extensive beard growth an indication of a marines years of service(long beard=long service) Marines of the chapter appear much older then the average marine in their status(they are!) DraXaus
Dreadnoughts are rare in any form. The Marines in question have to go above and beyond what is expected of them, and even then, that may not be enough. You have to tell us why they are so honored to be placed into a dreadnought. Why so many, and a good example of what makes your marine so spacial, compared to any other marine in the imperium. Edit: As for the name, you could call them the Purifiers. I did suggest this name to another member, but I think the name fits with your background much better. Failure590
Okay Ill start with the home world of Arx Solis. Name: XCV-1188/01 (Arx Solis) Classified: Deathworld / gamma signifier. Mass: 0.7895 x 10 to the 14th squared. Radius: 60,998 kilometers Sidereal rotation:(imperial terran standard) 6 hours. Sidereal orbit (imperial terran standard) 1,103 days. Atmosphere: Delta 4 Major exports: None Imperial Levy: exempt Satellites: natural Zero artificial Zero Mean temperature. 13 C XCV-1188/01 is the only planet orbiting the trinary star of XCV-1188 in the sementum obscuras. Largely composed of ferrous granite with a slowly cooling core it has been classified as a Deathworld/Gamma signifier with an almost intolerably thin atmosphere for unaltered terran life forms. Covered in 98% Mountainous crags and soaring peaks with no surface sources of water or liquid covering. Due to the nature of the trinary star system in which it orbits at an extreme distance the days of XCV-1188/01 are exceptionally short with less then 3 hours between night and day. This extreme rotation causes tremendous stress upon the tectonic plates causing extreme activity in the equatorial and polar regions. Life Their is no native indigenous life known upon XCV-1188/01. All attempts at terraforming the surface have failed. In the year of our Emperor M28.131/07 an exploratort eam set upon the world of Arx Solis for a geographic survey of the indignous mineral deposits of the world. Finding the World rich in ferrous deposits the explorator team sent out a call for full exploitation and removal of all deposits upon XCV-1188/01. Fourteen heavy mining vessels were dispatched, and began processing raw ore from the planet. In the Year M31.131/01 the planet suffered a pole shift due to a warpstorm created from a massive unknown outlay of psychic power isloating the planet from all warp travel and message traffic. Due to the extreme geologic forces in the poleshift all but 3 of the remaining mining colonies were destroyed. more to come on the planet. Zhivago
Mass: 0.7895 x 10 to the 14th squared.Radius: 60,998 kilometers So volume of the planet would be 9.506 x 10 14th power cubic meters, which would mean that mean density would be mass/volume = 0.08 kg / cubic meter. Which notably less then air. Ok, I'm quite tired as I'm doing this, but... Their is no native indigenous life known upon XCV-1188/01.All attempts at terraforming the surface have failed. Won't this make it dead world ? I though death worlds were dangerous to live places. Lack of water (or any notable coolant) would make the planet hot as hell see mars/venus. Basic ideas are good, population of expedition gone wrong, prehaps these people have myths and legend about their origins, like 'giant eagles of steel' which brought them there and such ? Failure590
oops I looked at the wrong density figure... I was trying for ultra dense. The origin of the native population is supposed to be decendants of the original miner explorator teams in isolated underground holds that are sealed off to the outside world. Living undeground with short supplies leads them to a nihilistic point of veiw.
