Why are my marines red

I always find it interesting when a player determines that the key terrain of his Chapter's homeworld determines the color scheme used by the army. Such a thought process indicates defensive thinking - something not in line with the Adeptus Astartes. Additionally, such a practice also indicates a thought process whereby a Chapter desires to blend in with the environment - camouflage. Again, such thinking is contrary to the beliefs of *most* Chapters (although not all of them).

In truth, there could be any number of reasons for your Chapter having a red color scheme:

  • The world orbits a red star and the Chapter cultivates its status as "Warriors of the Stars" by wearing armor the color of the sun
  • Red is the color of warriors, worn to disguise blood and inflame the passion
  • The battle-brothers really want to stand out, and the color red is uncommon among the native human population, so achieves the desired affect
  • etc.

  • 7 months later...
well my chapter the Sons Of Arioch are black and yellow and they live on an ice world...black for the pain they have suffered and yellow for a new dawn for their chapter.....so it makes sense plus when your almost 9 feet tall and clad in power armor blending in is the least of your priorities....
