Nash Trickster
Would it settle the matter if I took that number down to 86 years? Meaning Rath would have been about a 100 years old when he was finally able to take the ritual? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/84669-ia-doom-bringers/page/2/#findComment-980252 Share on other sites
Commissar Molotov
In the end, it's your chapter, we're just offering advice and giving an insight into what people are likely to say. Reducing Rath's time in the Scout company will likely appease people. Nash Trickster
Well, since wether it's 156 or 86 doesn't change anything to me... I'll take that number down to avoid the endless discussions :D *goes to edit that mention in the IA* :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/84669-ia-doom-bringers/page/2/#findComment-980261 Share on other sites
Nash Trickster
[sorry to double post but I just noticed a comment I had overlooked and which I think deserves a "bump" of the thread...] Could it possibly be another chapter to the Lamenters? Just a suggestion. It strikes me that the unlucky Lamenters might not be the best chapter to find your men. Well, actually I only picked up the Lamenters because it was the first "known" chapter (besides the "too common for my taste" Ultramarines) which came to mind when I was looking for a chapter present in the Eastern Fringe... Do you have suggestions? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/84669-ia-doom-bringers/page/2/#findComment-980323 Share on other sites
Commissar Molotov
Does it need to be another Space Marine chapter? Could it not be the Inquisition? or the Imperial Navy? Nash Trickster
Yes, it could indeed be an Ordo Xenos exploratory force which came to investigate on the reason for the "singularity" in Behemoth's advance pattern... :D It even makes more sense! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/84669-ia-doom-bringers/page/2/#findComment-980343 Share on other sites
Commissar Molotov
And perhaps out of gratitude for finding them, the Doom Bringers work closely with the Ordo Xenos? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/84669-ia-doom-bringers/page/2/#findComment-980344 Share on other sites
Nash Trickster
I have edited the IA, incorporating the new ideas and making the necessary changes... I have run it through a spell-checker, but I doubt it's perfect yet, so, if you could now help me proof-reading it, help me with the grammar and to make it sound like "idiomatic" english, it would be really nice... ++ EDIT: Edited IA was moved to the first post ++ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/84669-ia-doom-bringers/page/2/#findComment-980840 Share on other sites
Nash Trickster
hello, sorry for the "threadomancy", but I've recently wrote a sidebar for the IA about some events which happened during the Medusa V campaign and thought it'd be better to post it here (since I may get a few more C&C on the whole IA as a result) Here's the sidebar: Master Librarian Zero and Dreadnought "Purgatus" During the events known as the Fall of Medusa V, the First Company of the Doom Bringers, under the command of Captain Cephas, was tasked with the defence of the West Gate of Hive Stheno in the Armida sector. They held for three weeks against waves after waves of Tyranid Xenos, suffering heavy losses. When the order to leave the planet arrived, a small task force under Master Librarian Zero stayed behind, protecting the withdrawal of the rest of the Company. When their turn came to evacuate, the Thunderhawk which was waiting for them was suddenly attacked by a swarm of Raveners. The Space Marines forced the xenos to fall back, but they couldn't push them back enough to be able to board safely. Zero urged his men to go, intending on holding the xenos just long enough to allow his men a clean escape. They obeyed half-heartedly. However, as soon as they were safely on board, Sergeant Onorius, who was recruited at the same time as Zero, ordered the Thunderhawk's pilot to fly stationary and, after strapping a jump pack to his armour, jumped out of the ship to rescue his old friend. Onorius was still airborne when he saw one of the burrowing xenos emerge behind Zero and stab him with its scything talons. Onorius drew his plasma pistol and killed the biomorph. When he reached the ground, the librarian was unconscious but alive, he picked up his body and pushed to jump pack to its limits to make it back into the gunship. Once aboard the Battle Barge, however, the Apothecaries quickly concluded that the extent of Zero's wounds was much too important for him to ever recover. They were about to grant him the mercy of the Emperor when the last Thunderhawk to leave the planet arrived... This Thunderhawk had broken formation during the evacuation to lend help to elements of an Imperial Guard regiment, the 216th Drookian Grenadier, which was pinned by chaotic forces. The gunship carried 2 assault squads and one of the few dreadnoughts of the chapter, the venerable Purgatus. The assault squads dropped behind the chaotic lines, wreaking havoc amongst the heretics and allowing the guardsmen to reach their waiting dropship. The Dreadnought, standing proudly at the main hatch of the gunship provided additional covering fire. But a lucky heavy-bolter shot from one of the heretics punched through the armor of the venerable warrior's sarcophagi, who died on the way back to the Imperator Irae II. The unfortunate death of brother Purgatus was to be a providence for Librarian Zero which could be entombed into the Dreadnought. While he hasn't recovered from his ordeal yet, there is great hope that he will one day be able to walk the battlefields again...
