I'm just trying to get as much of the picture in as I can without having the edges visible. Im using the gradient tool anyways so I cant modify the feather.

EDIT: I didnt add a quote to Raptors because since there is so little fluff Raptors should technically count as DiY so just add your favourite generic SM quote

Criticism helps people to get better at what they are doing, it was helpful criticism not unhelpful!

 

Trying cutting the image using the select tool then, instead of gradient, you can still get a good portion of the image but you will also achieve a smoother transition from image to background.

I use the image sleect thing drag it to the other one and then use the gradients. Usually I'll just look for a picture that just fades itself out.

 

@ Marneus: Just a couple suggestions. DONT USE TIMES NEW ROMAN I'M ALLERGIC TO IT. :) The pic in the bottom corner could be made smaller to get around the blurriness and the khorne icon should be a little small and without the pinkish parts around the edge. The icon should be pretty easy to fix just magic wand it and scale it down. As well as the picture in the bottom right, again just scaling down. Lastly try downloading the font 'Shoestore' (theres a link somewhere in this thread).

I use the image sleect thing drag it to the other one and then use the gradients. Usually I'll just look for a picture that just fades itself out.
Personally I use Paintshop Pro as I find it easier to use (might be habit though) and it's completely adequate for anything I've ever had to do.

What I do when I want to fade a pic into a background is to add a mask layer so I can edit the transparency directly. I then use the airbrush tool on the mask to fade out the edges as well as I can manually, and finish with a mild gaussian blur (still on the mask) to smoothen everything out.

Another option when you have pure greyscale pictures to fade into a background is to add the picture to a "Multiply" or "Darken" layer instead of directly on top of the image (or a standard layer). That ensures that the image's hue matches the background's better. You can also do the mask editing to improve the results even more. It's also helpful to adjust the histogram (whatever that means, I just use the tools as they're named :)) to make the image use the full spectrum, from pure black to pure white. This is especially useful when the image is scanned or similar, and isn't completely white at the lightest points.

And never be afraid to add more layers! It saves work if you change your mind.

these are pretty sweet, downloaded most of the imperial ones now.

im now gonna request one thats gonna probably get me a mackeral, but here goes, any chance of getting an IG one done? just i play =I= with indentured guard and it woulld be nice if they could have their own little sheets - either plain guard or even =I= guard would work

if you dont want to risk posting them on here do you belong to any other forums where youve posted non marine/pa armie sheets?

Well my wireless network went down last night and since my dad is sailing with his friends in the British Virgin Islands (lucky b****** :devil: ) it took me a while to get it up and running again. So you got an extension.

 

GK, AM, RG, sallies, Soul Drinkers, Blood Ravens and Relictors (just wondering do LatD count for the power-armour restriction?) will be done. After that I'm submitting them all to Kurgan...

 

Please stop senidng me requests for templates you've seen here. I've stopped sending them. Just wait a few more days and they'll be posted in their entirety for your downloading pleasure.
