Thaelion Hexis
I briefly mentioned my DIY Chapter, The Nexus Legion, sometime last year, if anyone can remember though probably not. My original theme was an Imperial Fists successor, based on a water / ice world with a huge fortress made of ice and an orbital citadel above the atmosphere. I've been reworking... The Nexus Legion are successors of the Imperial Fists. A relatively new founding, a little before the 13th Black Crusade. The Chapter Master was a veteran of the IFs 3rd company. Whilst he was an IF, he served with the Ordo Xenos as a member of Deathwatch, becoming a more than adept marksman with the M.40 Targeter Bolter. Because of his renown with Deathwatch, he was chosen to be the Master of a new chapter. He was given the full honour of naming and colouring the chapter and was involved with every aspect of it's conception. He brought a few veterans from the IFs to form his command squad, as well as inducting them into Deathwatch. An old friend and mentor, long interned in the holy shell of an IF dreadnought, also joined the new found chapter. His venerable wisdom would help the chapter to endure it's beginnings, being console to the Chapter Master and bringer of death on the battlefield. I've been trying to think of a couple of traits to suit the nature of the chapter. I want to be maily codex, so there are only a few minor traits to choose from. Uphold the Honour of The Emperor is a definate, since the veterans are all loyal marines from the Imperial Fists who have strong faith in the Emperor. I'm considering prefered enemy, since as the chapter master served, and still serves, with Deathwatch, his dealings with specific xenos should rub off onto the chapter. Considering Tyranids for that one. I am also thinking of Purity Above All, as the chapter master of a new chpater may want to keep it as pure as possible considering his dealings with the Inquisition. Honour Your Wargear or Cleanse and Purify as these seem suiting for a chapter from the IF. I am planning on writing myself a full IA for the chapter. Any thoughts? space wolf
ok a few things....first off, if they were to give a guy on the deathwatch company the duty to lead a new chapter of marines, i dont believe that he would still serve in the deathwatch...he would have far too many things on his plate just getting the new chapter up to speed. Secondly, dont quote me on this, but i also dont think that a dread would leave the chapter, particularly a venerable one. dreadnoughts are fallen warriors which are the cream of the crop, not to meantion a venerable dread is even more so...i dont see a chapter giving one up to help out a new one..."LET SOME OF THEIR GUYS DIE, SO THEY CAN HAVE THEIR OWN DREADS, WE AINT GIVING UP OURS!!!;)) other than that, you may want to flesh out exactly what your chapter is like, where its stationed what are its traditions etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85119-the-nexus-legion/#findComment-984324 Share on other sites
INKS
I am echoing what Space wolf said. Your origional idea is solid, it needs some work. Some things don't make a lot of sense. Like giving up dreads for example. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85119-the-nexus-legion/#findComment-985088 Share on other sites
Ferrata
I can see a chapter giving up an empty shell Dreadnought, with no marine entombed within it, but a "living" one would not be passed on. You've got their gene-seed, so now its time to answer these questions - What geneseed are they?- What founding were they? - What is their chapter symbol/colour scheme? - What is their Homeworld like, and what is the culture of the homeworld? (ie is it a Hive World, a Feral World, a Death World etc) - Where in the Imperium are they based? (It may help define the kind of enemies they face most often.) - What is their Combat Doctrine like? (do they prefer Close Combat or ranged fighting?) - What is their Organisation like (do they follow the Codex or are they a bit different?) - What is their Belief System? Good Luck Ferrata Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85119-the-nexus-legion/#findComment-985353 Share on other sites
