Commissar Molotov
Nevermind.... :D I thought the reference to the Flesh Tearers could help the discussion regarding 'activators' and the 'length' of the link to Primarchs. refuse
Where Chaos or alien influence lies at the heart of the matter then mutation may set in, debasing the chapter's gene pool more and more as time goes on.So mutation is contained within the geneseed, as well as Chaos! Mixed geneseed! It is also the case that the processes utilised by the Adeptus Mechanicus to store and to cultivate tithed geneseed from the Adeptus Astartes may become corrupted and imperfect. Though the particulars of a new Founding are shrouded in secrecy and arcane ritual, it is known that all of a new chapter's genetic make-up is not always drawn from the seed of one donor chapter. Instead, a new chapter may represent a genetic cocktail of the geneseed of others, and although purity testing is rigorous in the extreme, it is perfectly possible that these disparate elements may react with one another at a later date, in ways quite unforeseeable by their creators, and so the seed of a disastrous mutation or character flaw is sown. Brother Sergeant Alasseo
You know REFUSE, trying to keep up with your musings, and all of the possible repercussions simultaneously has vastly increased my capacity for triplethink. My brain hurts... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85255-thoughts-on-marine-creation/page/2/#findComment-993010 Share on other sites
Tubal
the Fangs of the space wolves are a post heresy development.Long canines are depicted in the Sabretooth pre-heresy artwork though ^_^The red compendium gives another explanation (though it should be seen as obsolete): "For example, the Spacewolves, phase 17 implant is accompanied by the withdrawal of the initiate's canine teeth and their replacement with longer canines".
