DIY chapter based on Romania, my country.

Recommended Posts

My knowledge of Romania actually deals with the historic side of the Carpathian Mountains and Vlad Tepes (dracula) and one of the major parts that suprised me was that how in Carpathia, if not all of Romania, he is seen as a national hero to this day for his war to keep the Turks out of Romania by any means nessesary. He was cruel beyond comprehension and was praised for it... almost every crime, from misdemeanor to treason, was punishable by Impaling. he brought peace to the land through sheer terror and was loved for it.

If you add that with the idea of the leader being political (the whole USSR control point), and often the Chapter Master becomes the leader of the home world, who could be more cruel than the space marines?

Also, with the continued defence of Romania, it may feesible to make them a Imperial Fists successor.

Greetings,

The Rose Prince:

I have explained my comment to your post directly to you. Thankyou for your feedback, if you have any concerns, don't hesitate to contact me.

Commisar Molotov:

Yes, I wish to stay away from Blood Angel's gene seed also, as you say it would be too easay to make some cliche vampire army, which would be doing a disservice to the rich and varied culture of Romania. I also thank you for the very kind words.

General:

The warrior's of the Dacians actually thought they were ravening wolves, and acted likening themselves to it in the field of battle. This is one reason that I like the Space Wolves 13th Company Rules. Also, the noble, and just qualities of the beast are also very notable. I was personally hoping to base my totemestic animal on the bear, since it is also a noble beast, though one of a more solitary kind, though can be angered just as easily if provoked correctly. The warrior's of the Dacians went so far as to use a Draco; which was the standard of the ancient Dacian military. It had a wolf head with the mouth open, with a snake body, made out of bronze and it ended with some linen stripes. It was put on a rod and if held in the air while galloping, it made a whistling sound, due to the air which entered the wolf's mouth.

Greetings,

Yesterday, I was unable to get on the computer and write down my ideas due to a real life issue with my uncle, who kicked me off the computer yesterday. Well, parents most alsways being right, I went and phoned my best friend, who is the only person who I play Warhammer 40k with. Since he has 4 armies including Chaos, who I usually just use Space Marine Rules, he has been very kind and continually letting me use his armies, and I actually won a game, lol, but I was playing necrons against his Chaos space marine Black Legion. The irony of the game was I had to kill one last tank and a havoc space marine, and 2 space marines before he had to kill one more necron to phase out. (A little side-tracked sorry, hope I am not breaking the rules too bad, but it works up to the stories climax, not just about the battle) Well, at first he won the battle, killing all but one of my immortals, but then he forgot the rule that my immortals had toughness 5, and all the weapons he attacked me with didn't have strength double that, so I was able to re-roll my WBB saves and bring 3 immortals back to life; In retrospect, I soon killed his one havoc, but in the process, lost 1 immortal to a predator armed with lascannons, and a necron warrior in close combat with 2 chaos space marines. Then I was able to kill the last havoc with my immortals gauss blasters. lol, but there was still the tank. Now tenseness, and anger of your troops not to kill was running high (especially my best friend Ryan, who usually beats me in every single game) So, his predator was his last model on the board and I offered to play to the death. His one tank tank-shocked my group of necron warriors, who passed their morale test, and then moved to the back of the tank. Luckily for me, I was able to stun the tank with my 2 wraiths, unabling it to shoot. By the way I was shooting at its rear armour, terrible dice rolls!!! So, his only option was to speed off, so he moved 12 inches directly ahead, and knew, that if I advanced on him, my necron warriors would be toast. So, I moved them into cover, then let my 3 last remaining immortals to shoot on the tanks side armour, blowing it up in a ball of flame. Overall, the first game I've won against him, not using a juiced up army list (but paying points for it; note: thats not how I play, lol) or been giving a gimick to win, lol. But frankly to say, we were both filled with fear and anger that we would lose, disapointment for my friend for not his army and himself for not doing as well as he should and for me, well I wanted to win, and win fair and square!!!

So with baited breath, we went upstairs to his room, and I brought up the discussion of my chapter creation to him, and I had e-mailed him my start of ideas in which he read. By then we had cooled, but our discussion, oh they are heated, lol!! Now, my best friend will support me, but he will challenge me to my ideas of creating my own rules all the way to the minute details. This makes it extremely frustrating but also exremely gratifying as you wished to have a completely unflawed IA, that pertains to the Warhammer 40k universe. Now, I brought up all sorts of my ideas and reasonings, some that were quite way out there, and bordered more with fantasy rules, and then more with Warhammer 40k rules. One problem he had was why did I have to create new rules for my chapter when I have already been given something, that would allow me to be able to effectively in hind point create the theme of my chapter. I answered it is not unique, I was born in Romania, and I have in the process not only learning about my country but applying it to a universe that I totally accept. I also wanted to show the darkness of man, and to apply that the warhammer universe is all about Man vs. Himself.

Greetings,

Okay, I had a conversation with Commissar Molotov, and I have news to report, that I am first going to write up an Index Astartes using the basic but highly important outline. I will convey my ideas shortly to you, but it will take a little more time than before:

Geneseed:

Unknown geneseed, more of so, I have not decided upon one at this moment. Though due to fluff, or combat doctrine and organization, should the geneseed be based upon what in turn the chapter's belief are of combat; or of who the combat is most similar of, or just be the Ultramarines.

Founding:

I have not yet decided on the founding, though I have decided that it will be a relatively new chapter.

Chapter Symbol/Chapter Colour Scheme:

Due that I wish to make the bear a general theme throughout my army, I wish it to be of bear colours, or of the colors as which the bear's habitat's resides. The chapter symbol could be a bear paw, or a bear head, or a full bear. Whichever takes my fancy. Or it could be of a bear teeth, or of the sword the falx, "As a claw is an extension of a bear's paw, and therefore his weapon against atttack. My Space Marines wish to emanate a bears characteristics by a falx which as an extension of the arm, can resemble the extension of the claw of bear's paw, which can be used both offensively, and defensively."

Homeworld/Culture:

I want the world to be equally divided by mountains, forests, and plains. I want the world to be a world in a primitive, though iron age state. I want the people to be feral, though the world would be a very hard place to survive, every day would be a struggle for survival.

Combat Doctrine:

Due to the chapter's reverence in the bear as a totemistic animal, they revere close combat and compete very keenly on the battlefield for glory. They very rarely use cavalry, such as land speeders, and Bike Squadron's, and Attack Bike Squadron's. They do take to the field on battle, as riders of the gracious, but powerful bears. They do believe in the tactics of shooting but, tend to rely more on the Bolt Bow, which comes from a traditional long, short bow. In battle, they use a variety of traditional thrown weapons, such as spears, javelins. Due to the culture, the falx represents an extension of a bears arm, who therefore see themselves as emanating a bears characteristics, therefore the falx was born, re-adopted.

Organisation:

They do not follow the codex at all, adhering to a strict warband, clan, tribal system hearkening back to the traditions of old.

Beliefs:

They are the center a warrior people, regarding honour, glory, loyalty, temperance and self-sacrifice in the highest esteem. They wish to emanate the bear's noble and animal characteristics. They see the Emperor as a very gifted warrior, one to combat the ever growing darkness, and to re-unite humanity.

Traits: I have net yet decided also, but have ideas, but would like to hear from the community first of my ideas.
