'Susurrare'

Salutations, brothers...

Here i am (yet AGAIN! :P) bringing you the last Primarch i did while the B&C was down. I was asked a lot to do a Traitor, but i still couldn't figure out wich one. Mortarion sounded good, and there were also Perurabo, Magnus the Red and... well; the list goes on, you can imagine.

I was luckily struck by the sudden idea of trying to do an illustration that represented how Chaos lured the Primarchs into it; how it whispered at them. And this is how Fulgrim came to be in this image. The daemonettes whispering at him, and his expression are something i was really pleased with, and i hope you enjoy it too.

Susurrare is of course the latin for 'whisper'.

So, without further ado...

C&C are welcome as usual!

Until soon

Everybody likes nekkid demon ghost chicks

The piercings are also a good touch since it's the kind of thing I'd imagine a still-loyal but decadent Fulgrim might get.

I'm not so fond of the bare stomach though. The stomach is the most sensitive part of the body so it's the first thing to armour

Some very nice work there, I really like the daemonettes, they do come across as very ghostly. I would have to agree with Tubal, the bare stomatch is a little bit of a let down. The expression is good in this one, but I'm still not a fan on the faces (This is the last time I will say that, just take it as standard on your next pieces of work )

Simply great. Very seductive and beautified just the way he should be.

I like the stomach. Remember Sanguinius used to fight naked and I don't see why fulgrim couldn't do the same.

Lovely

(Once you've done them all you better make a thread with all of them in it like an archive  )

Hey there, brothers! I'm glad you've come to like this illustration as well as the others. This was my last Primarch piece for a while, because i was kind of 'overloaded' with them and had to do something else for a change. However, i'm back at it, and soon there will come another of te Emperor's finest... And now, to some answers...

is that watercolour, or markers?

It's actually a blend of the two. But lately i'm leaning more towards full marker work, because i believe it gives me a better finish. Although i'll always keep the watercolours for the backgrounds, because they make for a nice contrast with the markers.

Is it digital or hand coloured?

It's all hand-work, mate. I'm a 'traditional artist' :P .

I'm not so fond of the bare stomach though. The stomach is the most sensitive part of the body so it's the first thing to armour

I always thought Primarchs used armour more as a decoration than actually for protection. After all, they were pretty much invulnerable to regular damage...

Noted, Ferrata! :D. I actually have had the 'faces' discussion a thousand times, and what i can say in my defence is that: Faces are one of the most important items of the human figure. If you 'lose' them in rendering, they won't come across to the viewer. The more simple the face, the more people will relate to its expression and mood.

(Once you've done them all you better make a thread with all of them in it like an archive ;) )

It's a deal!

Thanks again to everyone for the comments! Keep them coming brothers!

Until soon

the blocky style of the face ruins an otherwise awesome illustration. it has the same style as the awefully animated clone wars series. star wars deserved so much better then that.
I disagree, in fact I loved the way the Star Wars series was done, and I love this work as well. Brilliant job, Aerion! My only suggestion is to try to vary the faces of the primarchs as Fulgrim and Sanguinius's faces appear almost identical in your illustrations. Nice job though! :P

Against regular damage maybe, but I would hardly call the damage inflicted by choppas or power weapons regular. I think the primarchs would all have been armored from head to toe. Great job with the illustration though. When are you going to do Vulkan? -Mulceber

Salutations again, brothers... There have been some more comments, so i'll get to them right away:

Another great piece! I look forward to seeing your work on a regular basis. Keep it up.

Thanks, Ardus! I'm planing on bringing artwork here to the B&C as regularly as i can :) .

I'm really sorry that you think that about the work done on 'Clone Wars', because to me that was amazing and very inspiring. Actually this is a question of taste: some may like it and some may hate it. And that's pretty much what happens with any form of art, music, sculpture, etc. But i thank you for your honesty and the fact that you could see past the thing you didn't like and still be able to compliment me on the technique.

Thanks for the kind words Tu'Shan! I plan on doing all of the Primarchs, so Vulkan may not be far ahead ;). About the armour, well, i felt that since the Emperor's Children (in their final chaosyfied state) had a lot of 'gaps' showing skin in their armours, their Primarch (whom they followed devotedly and without question) may have had something to do with that. I believe that the Cahpters tried to somewhat emulate their Leaders not only in their mindset, but also in the way they ornamented their armour.

Thanks again to everyone! If anyone else has anything to say... shoot!

Until soon
