Pea
I posted some of these before the Great Downtime. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/Pea_666/Warhammer%2040k/Deathwing/Deathwinggrouppic1.jpg I'm currently waiting for my mkIV dreadnought to arrive, and I'm assembling 5 more terminators. What do you think? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/ Share on other sites
-Q-
Wow nice. Everyone should check the link in your sig to see the closeups and WIPs! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-991329 Share on other sites
wulfgarr
Really nice painting.I like how your deathwing are darker than alot you see that are bone white. From what i can see those bases are what im looking for(the way you did them). The only thing i can say that doesnt look right is the bottom of the drop pod.If you can i think you should go back over it and try to blend in the colors better. StratoKhan
Very nice Deathwing. From this distance it's hard to tell but they seem to have been painted very nicely indeed. Is that character a Master or a Librarian? As far as I can tell he looks pretty good. The streaks on the DropPod seem a bit crude though. Is it a scratchbuilt DropPod? Pea
Thanks guys! @wulfgarr: I changed that recently, it looks much better now believe me. ;) @StratoKhan: The character is a Librarian, considered by many the best HQ option for a Deathwing army. And yes, it is scratchbuilt. :) Finally, some close-up pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/Pea_666/Warhammer%2040k/Deathwing/AssaultCannonTermies.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/Pea_666/Warhammer%2040k/Deathwing/DeathwingLibrarian1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/Pea_666/Warhammer%2040k/Deathwing/DeathwingTerminator2Front.jpg All my termies will eventually receive pauldrons (little shields) like this one for squad markings. Ahmato
These are some beautifully painted minis :) How did you do the Librarians head? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-991353 Share on other sites
Pea
By the head I assume you mean the psychic hood as well right? The head is just one of the heads of the commander sprue iirc. The psychic hood is inspired by a guy named Heero-Severus (on Warseer), who in turn nicked it from Commander Y. It's just a standard space marine shoulder pad cut up and made to fit with the plastic terminator torso. I also added some plasticard strips for detail. this picture might clear things up a bit. As will this one. The cables are thin strips of plasticard attached to the head and the hood, and painted in two colours to make it look like double cables. Quite simple. :) Hope to have been of help. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-991473 Share on other sites

Tubal
All my termies will eventually receive pauldrons (little shields) like this one for squad markings. That would be besegews actually :) (the pauldron is the shoulderpad) I like the drop pod, but isn't it cheaper just to teleport in? Unless it's for the dreadnought that is. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-991823 Share on other sites
Isiah
Bloody excellent. I love the spent cartridge cases under the assault cannon. Where did the daggers come from? Warhammer Fantasy Imperial troops? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-991845 Share on other sites
Grimdarkness
i hate to nit pick but why do the marines with the shields have 3rd (i think) company markings on the shield? Pea
@Tubal: I stand corrected. And the drop pod is for the upcoming dreadnought. @Isiah: The daggers are from the Space Wolf sprue. @Grimdarkness: Because it's a very simple and effective symbol. And in my army, it's a squad marking instead of a company marking. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-991933 Share on other sites
Alextraz
Ooooh....very pretty. The shading is lovely, very subtle...but perhaps too subtle. I notice a distinct lack of contrast between the gaps in the plates, and there was a little more contrast, it would make the plates pop out visually. Just a thought. - Az Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-991944 Share on other sites

alroachy
Your models look fantastic! I love the bases. It really helps to have a unique terrain look under the models. It helps to tie the whole army together. Nicely Done. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85673-deathwing-army/#findComment-992361 Share on other sites
