rat of vengence
Hiya all. I have just finished these two models for a local tournament, which I was lucky enough to come 2nd in. The drop pod is only cardboard, and based on the templates that were on the French GW site. I plan to make one out of sheet plastic, so don't worry about the poor joins. I told my opponents that asked that the cracks and gaps were due to the impact of the pod after atmospheric entry. :) http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/ratofvengence/droppod1.jpg My chaplain is based on several Black Templars parts, as well as some chaos decoration for the base. I am really happy with the helmet, but need to do some more work on the blac/grey shading. It was done enough to put on the table... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/ratofvengence/chappiejump1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/ratofvengence/chappiejump2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/ratofvengence/ch.jpg What do you think guys? (Don't ask for templates for the drop pod, it is against forum rules. Sorry guys...) Obliterator
Very nice work. The gold on the Chaplain looks great! Very shiny... My only comment would be that the highlights on the jumppack are a little too wide. Grimdarkness
The chappys weapon looks a littel small. other then that looks good. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85717-card-drop-pod-and-new-chaplain/#findComment-992088 Share on other sites
rat of vengence
Thanks guys. :) Obliterator, I actually didn't intend to put that plastic pack on him. I had painted up a nice old metal one, and then discovered that he wouldn't stay upright with the weight. :jaw: I had to chuck a plastic one on that had been done for rank and file troops. this will be fixed... Grimdarkness, I am not a fan of the big lumps that the new chaplains are carrying, I wanted to go for something that actually looks like it could be swung at initiative 5. Personal taste I suppose :) . RoV Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85717-card-drop-pod-and-new-chaplain/#findComment-992265 Share on other sites
StratoKhan
I actually really like that Crozius, it's very cool. Might prompt me to make a smaller one for my next Chaplain. madscuzzy
How did you do the gold? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85717-card-drop-pod-and-new-chaplain/#findComment-993658 Share on other sites
Greyfeathers
I couldn't agree more on your reasoning of having a more "stream-lined crozius" it's very nice, now if only I could speak french I could find my way to the drop pod templates!!! INKS
I won't comment on the JP as you've already been told the problem there, and you semm to have another idea for him anyways. The problem I see with the mini is a minor one, the red on his tabard seems flat to me. could use a highlight or two me thinks :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85717-card-drop-pod-and-new-chaplain/#findComment-993720 Share on other sites
rat of vengence
Thanks guys :P Madscuzzy, I started with a black undercoat, did a layer of Tinbitz, mostly over that with Dwarf Bronze, then a higlight with Shining Gold. I usually ink with Chestnut as well, but this one didn't seem to need it. InKaras, the tabbard is a lot more muted than I usually do, but I was going for a dark look with this guy. Sort of a 'death approaches from a storm-laden sky' sort of thing. thats why the debris on the base is quite dull as well (other than the gold on the shoulderpad, I wanted that to look fresh). StratoKhan, the crozius was made with the Black templar axe arm, with the blades replaced with the wings from the top of the fence things in the Battle of Macragge set. Pinning them was a real pain... He went well in the most recent tourney, but I have to remember not to hang him out to dry. I will not let my assault squad be assaulted. They will do the assaulting. I will not let my assault squad be assaulted. They will do the assaulting. I will not let my assault squad be assaulted. They will do the assaulting... RoV Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85717-card-drop-pod-and-new-chaplain/#findComment-993910 Share on other sites

Grey Knight
that's a pretty nice drop-pod you have there, shame they took it down( but not before i saved the templates ;) ), the chaplain is pretty nice too, especially the helmet, the highlights on the black are the only things that need a bit of improvement, but it gets better over time.
