Thanks again brothers! If you keep this up, i might have to please you and hold some other businesses until i have the Primarchs fully fleshed out. And now, to some answers...

Hmm.. any particular brand of markers you use? I bought some prisma-colours a while back, and they're rather tricky to use thus far...

And is that his cape inhis left hand, or...?

{EDIT} Suppose I cropped Dorn's head, and made it into an Avatar..?

I particularly use a brand of japanese markers called Kurecolor, and they've beena gret aid so far. For the yellow i used Cont

I've taken another good look at the artwork now. and I think that what I basicly miss in this piece is defenition. the problem as I see it is that the marines in the backgroup use the exact same palette of colours as rogan in the front. They are further away and hence should have a slightly colder and paler palette. that would make it easier to navigate the picture. maybe it could be achieved with some slight fog or light coming in from the side..
I'm using markers mostly these days as the great Bruce Timm does. However, 'mixed media' would be the best term to define my style of colour, because there is everything in there: oil pastels, acrylic, watercolour pencils... everything i can get my hands onto for a cool effect.

Hmm, my initial analysis was right, I thought it looked like markers, it's just a pretty unused medium I think for many artists, more home to the designers, so I wasn't really sure. You certainly have the right approach, cross using techniques, makes for wonderful results in skilled hands. :jaw: I am intrested in the red piece coming up. I'm almost on the verge of doing something artistic myself.

Cheers

Hey there, brothers...

I've taken another good look at the artwork now. and I think that what I basicly miss in this piece is defenition. the problem as I see it is that the marines in the backgroup use the exact same palette of colours as rogan in the front. Thanks for the second feedback, Tue. I actually agree completely with you; illustrators can often fall on 'detailing madness', soon followed by a confusing image. However, i believe that (although the issue is still there) you'll be able to forgive me on this one ;) . I'll keep this in mind. Thanks again.

Another great piece of art Aerion. I love the facial hair too. Just one thing, the face is a departure from your very destinctive style. Was that done on purpose?

I am actually trying to stretch the facial features range i draw to new heights, so possibly that's what you see in this pic. Thanks for noticing it!

You'll see the 'red piece' very soon (i hope), mate. And i hope that you show us that 'artistic something' you've got planned. Thanks!

i see that all the mods are too slackjawed to notice your pic is oversized :P

I thought the size was just right, mate. In fact, both Obliterator and Desmodus came by and didn't say anything; in any case... shhhhhhhh, or it's the melta hell for me! :P

You have done an amazing job here, and is it just me or does the picture remind anyone else of that cartoon Samurai Jack?

I see Samurai Jack influence in here! Im actually a huge fan of Genndy Tartakovsky's work, so you'll see it come through in my drawings.

Thanks to everyone for posting. If anyone else has questions, i'll be happy to answer them.

Until soon

Aerion the Faithful

You already know I love this piece as I said on Warseer. But I thought it wouldn't hurt to say so again. :P

I also wanted to point out two things I really like about this image that I didn't notice before. The first is the decorative linework on the blade of the sword, I think it as that certain something special. The other is the texture on the walls beneath the braziers. Very well done. :P

I love the Pic! I hate to be "that guy" but if I remember in Horus Rising they describe Dorn as having white hair. In this piece I know that wouldn't work but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Really a great piece though.

Thanks for the info, Trunks. But if you're referring to information contained on the recently released Dan Abnett novel, i must be forgiven, because i haven't read (and i don't even know if i can get it wehre i am :( ...

Thanks for the double post, Cpt. ;) . It's always good to know that you can find something good on an illustration everytime you look at it...
