Flying Death Guard

Well, I want to do another project for my Death Guard before I cob-web them entirely.

I'm definitely going to have:

 

Lieutenant - Kai-Gun, Power Weapon, Flight (possibly armour, depending on how ornate I make him look)

7 Possessed - D.Flight, BP/CCW x6, Champion - BP/Plague Sword, Mutation

 

If I do go through with this, I'm going to get the plastic chaos-box set (8 models, works fine!), and go from there.

No matter what happens, I'll likely use at least half a roll of Greenstuff.

 

 

What my quandry is, however, is how to model the flight.

 

I was thinking 2 things:

 

 

Bits order 8 Raptor Jump Packs

Somehow manage to construct 8 sets of fly wings.

 

Now if done right, the flies would look better, however, I really, really like the Horus Heresy book art of the pre-heresy Death Guard assault marines swooping in for the kill.

Although, how the fly wings look in my head, it looks as cool as the heresy book art.

 

 

What is your opinion?

For me could be an idea if you attach on a raptor jump pack 4 insect wings (two big and two a bit smaller than the first pair) with green stuff you can sculpt a dorsal shape and where insert the wings

 

I draw an example for a better comprension

 

you could sculpt the wings or maybe use th ehopper wings from mongoose's starship troopers

how about using Dark Elf Harpy wings fused to the power armour? you could punch a few holes in the wings to make them suitably rotten.

I would go with GS robes and fly wings made out of wire, GS and translucent plastic (painted to give that insect shine).

 

I agree with Undertow, Dark Elf Harpy wings could also be a way to go and will probably be easier. click me

I honestly think your best bet for deathguard style wings would be the Carrion wings from the tomb kings line.

For the wings: I would have thought that the Carrion wings from the Tomb Kings would be the best, like MasterSpyder suggested...

The new possessed are metal models that suck on a level roughly equal to a football team with no feet. Or legs. And sit in the hospital all day with lollipops.

 

I'd make fly wings. Either use clear acetate/plastic card to make biological looking ones or make thicker metal looking ones and attach them to a backpack.

In all honesty, I second that. They're horrible - almost as bad as that limited Aspiring Champ that came with the big CSM army deal and looked like a very badly sculpted Chaos Marine.

 

Fly wings work great on Nurgle's posessed. Just use the plastic from blister packs, it's sturdy, thin and free (well, not considering the fact that you need to BUY the blister first ;) ).
