Shiny they look like grapes try getting closer pics pleas. The base's are those sheet metal plugs with a base of some sort on they look interesting. Why do them that way the only thing i can think of is weight if so cool idea. Your Libby looks great .

Thank you

They look fine as quick n dirty troops. I like how your bases and detail painting tidies up the models.

Could you give us a quick how-to?

I am considering a quick approach to doing my templars as i haven't got the patience for giving the rank and file a proper paint job.

I am considering painting all base colors (Very dark grey for armor, metal weapons, red taberds and light flesh parts), then smother the models in either thinned black ink or even doing the dipping routine.

then do touch up painting of details followed by a dose of matte varnish.

Do you prefer the gloss on your models, or do you not want to bother with matte varnish.

Cheers, keep up the good work.

The bases are the standard flying base and a washer that i picked up at the local hardware store, i actually went in there with a flying base with a marine already on it to see which one worked best. And it was for the weight that i use the washer, but i just wanted somthing larger than the standard size bases but not too large, since the regular size ones marines can barely fit so they looked cramped, this way they look bigger as well.

A quick how-to?

Ill start with the marines then the base, neither of which took any amount of effort, the minwax did all the work.

Marine:

1) i started with primed white marines and painted them liche purple

2) then inked with purple ink to get all the crevases(sp?)

3) then drybrushed liche purple againt

4) Chest eagles, skulls, and skin painted scorched brown

5) Skin painted dwarf flesh, "bone" areas drybrushed graveyard earth

6) Skin inked with flesh wash, bone drybrushed bleached bone

7) Skin drybrushed elf flesh

8) Bolters Painted black then mithril silver, dont to worry about shading cause of the dip so covered it well.

Base:

1) Flesh washed the sand

2) Painted some parts Scorched brown.

1)Dipped entire model in minwax, shaken and cleaned off any large pools with cuetips

2) glued static grass at random places on base, tried not to cover too much or too little.

I like the shine of the minwax on my marines, since the grass isnt dipped it looks normal and the shine makes the dirt look muddy
