No Remorse
Hey all I am trying to pull out all the stops on my Canadian GD entry, as such I am finally biting the bullet and trying out SENMM for the first time, rather than my usual NMM. Please take a look and tell me what you think I can do to improve it, I think it looks a bit rough, so I may go over it again and clean it up a bit. http://greenman.publicmine.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/Vet_Arm_SENMM_WIP.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85889-first-attempt-at-senmm-cc-wanted/ Share on other sites
Obliterator
Looks more than decent to me. One thing though, I'm not sure the horizon would bend along with the axis of your tube. The middle 2 parts are OK, but the in the others IMHO, the horizon should be kept... well... more or less horizontal :D ... I could be wrong, I don't have my chrome bar handy at the moment... FaeLi-N
Agree completely there sir! The reflection should be consistently parallell with the ground (horizon). Looks good so far though! No Remorse
I just took a look at my Exacto knife at different angles, it would stay parallel with the tube, but the horizon line would be shallower, so I think that may be the problem, Thanks for pointing that out :D Ja Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85889-first-attempt-at-senmm-cc-wanted/#findComment-994164 Share on other sites
shuriken
what does SENMM stand for?! I've only just got my head around NMM and then you go adding more letters to it. quis custodiet ipsos custodes
Sky Earth Non Metallic Metal, painting metallic colours (gold, silver) without using metallic paints (boltgun metal for instance). It differs from NMM in a way I'm unsure of, horizon line or something. Kaldoth
I believe SENMM has something to do with reflections and whatnot. Cant tell you for sure. -Kaldoth Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85889-first-attempt-at-senmm-cc-wanted/#findComment-994331 Share on other sites
feuer_faust
It's using blues, greys, and browns to paint a psueduo-reflection of the environment as opposed to simply light on metal. So SENMM= Chrome. NMM= Boring, less lustrous metals. CRasterImage
The horizon line is correct. The curving shape of the metal rings is the dictating factor, and it is correct. Gryphin
The horizon lines are quite perfect, great job on it. It really does look good, keep this up, and you'll have some really kickass looking marines. Boltman
Excellent job there Ja, and as corrected, the horizon line is correct, the curve of the cable is what dictates how light is reflected upon them. I see little need for any improvement, except perhaps brightening the horison ever so slightly, ofr a slightly more reflective effect. I would advise more contrast on the black hilights though, but that'S another subject :D SENMM will not be a problem for you, and a definite plus for this season's GD judging. Bling it up! ;) Boltman Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/85889-first-attempt-at-senmm-cc-wanted/#findComment-994643 Share on other sites
dezul
dude that looks great, im with the others in saying that the horizon line looks a little out, but im only picking that out coz i was looking for something wrong with it as per the C&C...
