Nicorex
Okay since I need a Librarian for my new army I built one. Im not sure if i will be Using the Venrable Dread in this army or not so i im sticking with the name Bastion. If i use both one of them will be renamed. :jaw: On to the WIP Pics! I hope I croped the first small enough. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/Marines/DSCN0421.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0420.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0416.jpg as always coments and critic's always welcome. I had no idea how to model "fear of the darkness" so i only did "storm of the emperors wrath". I yanked a pic cause it was to blurry. Pdogg117
I like it so far, but I do have one criticism: teh force weapon doestn seem to be straight enough, but once you fix that then that thing will be awesome! Great gs work, and an overall great model. cant wait to see it painted! Nicorex
teh force weapon doestn seem to be straight enough, but once you fix that then that thing will be awesome! Great gs work, and an overall great model. cant wait to see it painted! Thanks! I know the damm force weapon is skewered.. no matter how much I try I cant seem to drill a straight hole. So unless I want to tear the whole thing down and start from scratch(witch i dont really want to) i will have to see if i can hide it. Im am going to try to hide the wonkyness with a few long pennets and purity seals. but I need to wait for the GS work already done to do more, or I start crushing the stuff I have already done. I have big thick clumsy fingers hehehe. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-999736 Share on other sites
DV8
I don't think you'll be able to hide that big of a bend. You're either going to have to redrill it, or rebuild it, but as is, you won't be able to hide it (and it would ruin the overall look of the librarian. Other than that, looking good. What chapter is this for? DV8 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-999742 Share on other sites
Nicorex
Here is a quick update. I added a banner/pennate and a purity seal to the Force staff to try and hide the wonkyness. Edit Pic to big.. im such a shmuck when it comes to sizing these.. lol and some linkys http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/DSCN0424.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/DSCN0425.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/DSCN0423.jpg critic away! :jaw: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-999749 Share on other sites
DV8
Love the banner. Might I inquire as to how that was achieved? The wonkyness in the staff is still a little noticeable though.. :jaw: DV8 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-999752 Share on other sites

What chapter is this for? DV8 Well there are some pics of trying to hide it linkyed up now.. take a peek. I dont build and paint for GoldenDeamon though. I am pretty happy with nice table top quality. So if it isnt to noticable from across the table im not to sure if I will tear it down and remake it. but you never know. Ahh the chapter.. Well its my DIY Chapter Void Hunters. Or mabye Gheist Jagers. im not sure yet hehehe. Love the banner. Might I inquire as to how that was achieved? The wonkyness in the staff is still a little noticeable though.. :jaw: DV8 I will let the GS dry and decide tommorow about what to do about it. The banner was simple as pie. I took a glob of GS, rolled in my fingers till it was a snake, then i rolled it on a peice of paper to elongate it and cut down on fingerprints. i then used a wooden sculpting tool that has a flat edge to press down on the snake till it was flat. then used another tool and my fingernail to make the pointed end. i used my xactoknife to make a straight edge on the other end, then cut out a notch big enough to go around the staff and over the wings. i placed that part first then carefully rapt the banner around the staff.. i had to do that 4 times though to get it right(well at least where i was happy with it). Now i am not some world class sculpter. but i have found that if you have a pretty clear pic in your head and are willing to be paitent you can almost always get the effect you are going for. You just have to allways be willing to tear the GS off and start over. Now if you want a real leason i suggest you ask Boltman. He seems to be a master sculptor/ converter. (LOL blatant brown nosing never hurts, he might peek at my guys and say nice things hahahaha!!!) Nicorex
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! Okay bowing to pressure(and you should never do that! always stick to your guns with your ideas thats what makes them original! so sue me for being a hypocrite hahahah!). I attempted to fix the wonkyness of my sorce staff. Unfortunatly in the attempt the staff was destroyed! So i had to start from scratch. this is what I came up with. He still needs some GS work. but im to tired to do it tonight, so I will finish him tommorow. Some custom purity seals and a penet/banner for the staff and something for the right arm shoulderpad(just dont know what yet). On to the Pics! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/Marines/DSCN0429.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0426.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0428.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0427.jpg Okay so there he is! Commander Flintlock
Absolutely beautiful work! shame that your efforts destroyed the hirst staff, but this one looks great. The one critique i have though, not sure if this is an optical illusion or not, but in http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0427.jpg his left (lightning) arm seems a bit hunched up, a bit too tucked into the body... to me it seems like it might be better if the arm was straight, as if he were pointing, but with the spread casting hand... not sure if it's too late in the process, but it was just something I noticed. Other than that, the mini is coming along beautifully! I love how you've sculpted the Storm of the Emperor's Wrath, it puts me in mind of crackling bolts of pure psychic energy lashing forward, flaying the Librarian's enemies... Great work! Also, you are one of the few people I've seen who can sculpt a hood well... Excellent stuff, Nicorex. In nomine Imperialis. Brother Redemption
Im liking. The hood and the left hand are particularly good. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-999837 Share on other sites
INKS
much better on pose as well as his staff. though the metal rod seems too thin. awesome job though. Yes his left arm is a bit pulled back to the body. there is a limited choice in arms from the storm sheild sprue. But I also wanted it like that. I was trying to go for the look of he is suddenly turning to face an opponent and begining to unleash his power before fully blasting the heck out of them. I guess it didnt convey this to you as much as to me hahaha Some of you mentioned the hood.. well it was both easy and a pain in the hynie. all i did was cut a shape out of some GS i hade flatened almost paper thin. ____ /...... \ --------- basicly it looked like that. then i jammed the smaller end over his head and under the rim of the termi armor. then just went to work with a soft rubber tipped sculpting tool to get the shape right. It took a few tries to get it right. Ohh InKaras. Yes the staff is thin.. it will get a layer of GS around it to thiken it up ans some sort of design in the GS. DV8
The right arm with the new Force Weapon looks MUCH better, and the pose lends my dynamicism to the model. As mentioned before, the left arm looks like it's pulled too close to the body (like he's trying to keep his elbow touching his waist). Click me for a purty pic-ma-ture! *shameless showboating. :P* take a look at my Librarian's left arm. I'd imagine if you stretched out your Librarian's arm to the same position (fully extended as opposed to tucked in), it'd fix that awkward look he has now. Grey Knight
maybe angle the loincloth a bit closer to the other leg, but that's just a really small detail. other than that this is a beautiful conversion, you should be proud.(the new staff rules) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-999990 Share on other sites
Nicorex
DV8! Stop showing Off! I know his arm looks hinky to you.. but I said I wanted it that way LOL! Grey his loincloth/scroll is tilting just a bit to the leg he is turnng away from. I thought it gave me the perfect sense of motion. Well I guess you can never tell what others will see.. I guess thats why they call it Art! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-1000006 Share on other sites
Grey Knight
well, i thought maybe he was moving too, but i wasn't sure. And remember, it's your mini and there will be certain things other people prefer, you just gotta keep the things you like and change the things you don't. Nicorex
Ohh i know that.. I was just teasing DV8. :P Once I add a couple custom purity seals and a pennate on the staff I think will add to the look of motion. Ohh btw. DV8 that is a kick a$$ librarian. What is the base model for it? One thing about him. his psycik power. The sculpting look great, mabye its the pic, but i think it would look better in a more show off color. like a bright purple. In the pic it looks blue and is sortof lost in all the blue on the librarian. Nicorex
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!! Okay I swear, this should be the last update of this model untill paint. There were a number of questions about making the staff look right after it had been rebuilt. This work is now done. Here are the Linkys! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0431.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0434.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0433.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0432.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0430.jpg There he is guys.. tear him a new one! Fallen
The old staff was a little cooler, but the new pose more than makes up for it. Much more dynamic! To be honest, I like the tucked in arm shooting the bolts. It makes him look like he's bracing himself. DV8's pose make it looks like he's pointing, and oh, there happens to be some funky flames from his hand. The more subtle staff, it's positioning behind the model, and the tucked in arm all combine to make the bolts the focal point. Which is good, as long as you can paint 'em up well  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-1000293 Share on other sites

magnum_opera
I thought it was a fantastic Librarian - I don't like the force power thing much, but I think it's just personal taste. One of the GW guys did a real nice job modeling it on Tiberius. http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spa...tramarines2.htm Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86364-once-i-get-going-its-hard-to-stop/#findComment-1000383 Share on other sites
