H: Interesting Facts.

01. i) Was previously the Mercy Falcons Chapter, until a tragic warp accident that resulted in the Company led by Rabican Talon being lost in the Warp and a subsquent assault of the Mercy Falcon's Home World by Chaos.

ii) The Warp Falcon Geneseed was found to correct many of the random mutations common in the Ravenguard Geneseed from which the Chapter was founded from. Soon after this was discovered the Warp Falcon geneseed was used to create a number of it's own successor Chapters (their Chapter Masters were picked from the Captains of the Warp Falcon Companies), with those Chapters in turn creating their own successor Chapters when commanded by the High Lords.

iii) Renamed after a Black and Violet Falconlike bird which was known for it's mysterious hunting technique, which involved the Warp Falcon phasing into the Warp, then appearing again high above it's intended prey before diving in from above. The large Warp Falcons are Black and Gold.

H: Interesting Facts.

02. i) The Mercy Falcon's Chapter Master and original Captains all came from the Ravenguard Chapter. Heru Talon was himself a Captain within the Ravenguard and was hand picked by the Ravenguard Chapter Master to become the Chapter Master of Mercy Falcons Chapter. By decree of the High Lords Heru Talon was allowed to pick nine veterans from the Ravenguard First Company to be the Captains of this new Chapter, in honour of their new Chapter Master the new Captains took on the last name of Talon. The Tenth Captain was picked from the best of the recruits designated to become Mercy Falcons, from the new Mercy Falcon Home World. The nine Veterans were (in order of age)

Korhalis Talon

Ajax Talon

Ragar "Rust" Talon

Chaldan Talon

Karam Talon (Karam and Chaldan are twins that made it into the Ravenguard).

Rabican Talon

Martaz Talon

Argos Talon

ii) Named after a white and silver Falconlike bird from their Home World, which the natives used to use to declare victory over their enemies (either when the enemy was crushed, or when the enemy surrendered).

H: Interesting Facts.

03. i) The Golden Minotaurs suffer from a very slight mutation which causes them to be slightly stronger, tougher and bigger than regular Marines (doesn't do anything in game terms, in model terms spacers are used in certain joints to make them slightly bigger).

ii) The Golden Minotaurs are based on a Forgeworld, which grants them access to more heavy weaponry than most other Chapters.

iii) The Golden Minotaur Home World was attacked by a Tyranid splinter fleet of Hive Fleet Kraken. Although they managed to destroy the Tyranid splinter fleet, they suffered heavy loses. Their Chapter master Chaldan Talon was himself mortally wounded, and in result placed in a custom built Dreadnought in form of a Golden Minotaur from their homeworld's Myths. He is still considered the Chapter Master of the Golden Minotaurs.

The humans who now live on the planet are a hardy people who crash landed during a Warp Storm whilst on route to colonize another planet and suffer greatly from their environment. It is from the strongest of these people that the Radioactives recruit their members.

F: Geneseed source (ie successor of)

05. Warp Falcons

G: Home World

05. Jax = Ice Death World

H: Interesting Facts.

05. i) The Silverstars are based upon a planet thought to have been flung from the far reaches of the Galaxy by the death of it's parent stars. The planet now orbits a huge giant of a star, which's gravity had managed to slow then pull the speeding world into it's orbit. The world is an ice world hanging on the edge of the giant Star's system. The world is now colonized by a toughened people who fled to hide upon it during a time of civil war in a neighboring system (which resulted in Exterminus for the whole system). It is from these people that the Silverstars recruit their members.

ii) The Silverstar's Home World is also home to a large number of abandoned, and now frozen Pyramids, which some scholars suggest may be Necron in origin.

iii) The Chapter Master Argos Talon's trademark weapon is a Morning Star dubbed "The Silverstar" (A spiked ball attached to a Chain), which ripples with concealed and unnatural energies. It found on a pedestal in the Grand Chamber deep within the largest of Pyramids.

iv) The Silverstar's Home World forces the Silverstars to forgo conventional heavy weapons and vehicles, and so instead they rely heavily on Landspeeders, Jetpacks, Drop Pods, Scouts and Teleportation.

06. High Marshal Ajax Talon

F: Geneseed source (ie successor of)

06. Warp Falcons

G: Home World

06. New Nubia = Africa like world.

H: Interesting Facts.

06. i) The Void Talons are a crusading Chapter in much the same way that the Black Templars are, except with a number of differences.

A) They recruit their members from a single world.

B) The Chapter keeps they set up on other worlds, are used to station new recruits sent from their "Home World" until a Crusade Fleet can pick them up.

C) Those recruits who present psyker talents are not simply destroyed, but are instead sent to Titan to train alongside the Grey Knights before being sent to the Blue Paladin Home World to become Blue Paladins.

ii) The Void Talon Home World is generally a plains world (think Africa), which is only disturbed by it's oceans and the Jungles that exist surrounding it's mountainous regions. The people of the world spend their lives in constant warfare with each other. At times this is only limited to the Plains people fighting with the people of the Jungles, but it is not restricted to that.

iii) An entire Praetorian regiment (the Imperial Guard that look like the old English army which invaded Africa years ago), sent to subdue the inhabitants so that the world could be colonized by "civilized Imperial citizens", was quickly defeated by the people of that world. Which almost resulted in a culling of the people, which was only prevented when the world was declared the Home World for the Void Talon Chapter. To this day there are still Praetorians stuck on that world fighting to survive, the Void Talons leave them there to strengthen the natives.

iv) The native peoples of the Void Talon Home World are all dark skinned (which in painting terms means that any Void Talon scout or SM without a helmet has dark skin).

F: Geneseed source (ie successor of)

07. Warp Falcons

G: Home World

07. Renaria = Pirate Haven within the Maelstorm

H: Interesting Facts.

07. i) The first successor Chapter of the Warp Falcons, the Sons of Korhalis (named after their Chapter Master), were extremely loyal to Imperial creed until sometime after the Founding of the Falcon Brothers Chapter. At this point after years of fighting Chaos, Korhalis himself had become convinced that the only way to defeat the Traitor Legions was to embrace Chaos and use it's strength against the Traitor Legions. It was a Inquisitor by the name of Grael, that discovered the dark secret of the Sons of Korhalis and proclaimed them Traitors. It was the combined forces of the Warp Falcons, Golden Minotaurs and Iron Eaters that eventually expelled the Sons of Korhalis from their Home World, forcing them to flee into the Maelstrom.

F: Geneseed source (ie successor of)

09. Warp Falcons

G: Home World

09. Jago = Jungle Death World

H: Interesting Facts.

09. i) The Iron Eaters Home World is a Jungle death world which has a peculiar lack of small bugs. The only kind of small bug found on the world is well known for it's preferred appetite of metal, in particular they like Iron above all other types. All other bugs on Iron Eater Home World are of giant proportions, the smallest being the size of Terran dogs, the biggest the size of an old Terran Elephant.

ii) The Iron Eaters Chapter Master is well known for his hatred of the Iron Warriors, this is specifically because of the loses his Company received when he was a Captain in the Mercy Falcons Chapter during the Invasion of the Mercy Falcon Home World by Chaos forces. Ragar is also known to loath those Chapters which believe that machines are greater than the power of sacred Human flesh, and has been known to refuse to fight alongside the Iron Hands and certain factions of the Adeptus Mechanicus. In a later invasion of the Iron Eater's Home World again by Iron Warriors, Ragar delighted in the fact that the local metal eating bugs loved to eat away at the Iron Warriors, tanks armour and wargear which partly resulted in his Chapter's quick victory against the invaders.

iii) Due to their Home World being a Jungle Death World the Iron Eaters are proficient in the arts of stealth and infiltration and their Chapter colours reflect this. Also because of the metal eating bugs of their Home World, the Iron Eaters prefer not to field many tanks.

Under supervision of the Ordo Xenos that Tomb Scorpions were quickly trained in certain Deathwatch techniques for killing Necrons.

F: Geneseed source (ie successor of)

13. Golden Minotaurs

G: Home World

13. Nyx = Ancient Terralike world

H: Interesting Facts.

13. i) Due to an unforeseen mutation in the Geneseed, the Warlords of Nyx are an extremely violent Chapter, which mirrors the people of their Home World who's barbarity in combat seems to know no bounds. Well known among other Chapters for their disregard of all life, the Warlords of Nyx are particularly shunned, and have been accused of many unnecessary massacres over the years of their Chapter's existence. There is even rumors that when the Warlords of Nyx are not fighting against enemy forces, they wage war against each other on their Home World, Horde vs Horde. It is even said that to advance in rank a Warlord of Nyx must fight his commanding officer in a duel to the death.

ii) Warlords of Nyx companies are known as Hordes, each with their own Fortresses and land on their Home World. The only way a Horde may gain more land, is to take it from another Horde in battle.

iii) The Inquisition is said to have plans to investigate the Warlords of Nyx for possible Chaos corruption.

F: Geneseed source (ie successor of)

14. Lava Claws

G: Home World

14. Raliven = Iron Age Death World

H: Interesting Facts.

14. i) Extremely unusually the Blood Hammers Chapter suffers from a Geneseed defect very similar to that, that the Blood Angels and their successors suffer from (similar though not exactly the same), even though their Geneseed is completely unrelated to that of the Blood Angels. Just like the Blood Angels the Blood Hammers are forced to field a Death Company, but again just like the Blood Angels they manage to hide their "curse" from everyone else.

ii) The sacred weapon of the Blood Hammer Home World is a Warhammer, and so the Blood Hammers have themselves adopted the Thunder Hammer and Power Hammer as status symbols amongst their numbers.

H: Interesting Facts.

15. i) Just prior to the 13th Black Crusade, the High Lords, Grey Knights and Ordo Malleus agreed that the Grey Knights alone were not enough to deal with the increasing amount of cases involving Daemon infestation in the East Fringes, and so it was agreed that the Blue Paladins should be formed to pick up the slack in the East. After many centuries of geneseed testing it was decided that the Void Talons geneseed was the most suitable (they didn't use Grey Knight seed for reasons of faith). The Void Talons were soon sending their psyker latent recruits off to train alongside the Grey Knights before being sent to their own new Home World, and taking on the name of Blue Paladins, charged with assisting the Ordo Malleus and Grey Knights in destroying any and all Daemons found in the Eastern Fringes.

18. i) How and when the Protectors of Genetic Purity were created is completely unknown. It is rumoured that they were never created by command of the High Lords. What is known is that they carry Inquisitorial symbol for their Chapter icon, and that their Chapter Master is in fact himself an Inquisitor Lord of the Ordo Xenos, Ordo Malleus and Ordo Hereticus all at the same time. Though further details on that matter are Inquisitorially sealed.

ii) The Protectors of Genetic Purity have no official Home World, and instead get their members from the Radical Knights of Genetic Purity Storm Trooper Regiment.

iii) The Protectors of Genetic Purity loathe almost everything and everyone that is alien, chaos tainted, latent psykers, Genetically modified, bionically modified and mutated in any way. They believe that in order to survive Mankind must purge itself to it's natural and destroy all that would seek to taint it. In contrast the Protectors of Genetic Purity also consider themselves tainted due to their genetic modifications that were required to make them Space Marines, but they believe that it was necessary so that they could better destroy others who are tainted. The Protectors of Genetic Purity also have a pact that once all others of taint are destroyed, they will commit mass suicide ridding the Universe of Taint forever.

19. i) The Onyx Ravens come from a world where Brotherhood and Loyalty are held in the highest regard. The Onyx Ravens are much more in preference to live amongst the people when they are not off world. This general closeness to the people does not end in just living together on their Home World, but it also comes to the point where those that seek to become Space Marines go off to war alongside their Space Marine brothers. Fighting alone with ritual dual swords, and tending to their Space Marine brother's wounds. It is when a normal human of particular prowess proves himself in the eyes of their Space Marine kin, that they are induced into the Scout Company, soon to become Space Marines themselves. It is in this regard that the Onyx Ravens distain on those who would destroy human life wether Space Marine or not.

Firstly, it would be easier for people to read the article if it was just one chapter at a time thus -

Name: Warp Falcons

Traits: None

Scheme:

Chapter Master: Heru Talon

Gene-seed: Raven Guard

etc

I didn't really read them all, but one thing did stand out, why don't you take one chapter and really make them a full chapter instead of these small enteries. I'm doing something similar in my Chapter, where the Wings of Death are the main chapter, although there are numerous other chapters which they are envloved with, all which have the basic information.

The other thing I have to say is this: where did you find those things that you sued for your armor color schemes? me wants badly.

Yeah that's a good idea and I'm doing the same, My Steel Templars are my main DIY chapter though I have a few other DIY chapters that I've made which are involved to some degree with my main chapter but their background doesn't have as much depth as my Steel Templars do, it makes things easier

Meh I'd written a huge reply explaining why over the years I made each Chapter and fluffed them out to the extreme, but I closed the window and lost it all... in summary what you see here is just a very brief bit for each (I have trouble writting what I want to write in a manner that I'm proud of, so generally I don't write out the long fluff for each Chapter - instead I keep it all summarised in random notes and in my memory...).

It was intially hosted on thewarp.net site, though the link seems to have gone now so I've hosted the psds myself, here's the link

Space Marine Colour Scheme Psd Templates

Welcome to the B&C.

Erm... There is definitely a feeling of overload here. Do you have an army of each of these guys? A squad? ^_^

I would definitely concentrate on doing one chapter, really putting the work and dedication into it, rather than bombarding us with this array of lightly detailed projects. B)

It is always easy to come up with a vague outline of a chapter based around a cool theme or idea, and often these get discarded only to be replaced as soon as the next inspiration particle hits a neuron. How about you select the one you love the most and flesh that one out. A solid theme that you can carry through the whole chapter will give you the most cohesive and satisfying chapter, which you can hopefully weave into answering the following questions:

- What geneseed are they?

- What founding were they?

- What is their chapter symbol/colour scheme?

- What is their Homeworld like, and what is the culture of the homeworld? (ie is it a Hive World, a Feral World, a Death World etc)

- Where in the Imperium are they based? (It may help define the kind of enemies they face most often.)

- What is their Combat Doctrine like? (do they prefer Close Combat or ranged fighting?)

- What is their Organisation like (do they follow the Codex or are they a bit different?)

- What is their Belief System?

This is abstracted from the Chapter Creation stickypost at the top of this section, and is worth a read. Link.

Just out of curiosity and not to bash anyone here, but did you post this up here to hear what people thought was their favorite of the 25 that you posted and then we post up which our favorite was so that you could have something to work with?

No.

I posted this up here as I wanted to know what people thought of each.

Each of these Chapters being the results of months/years of work. Sure I haven't written up pages and pages of fluff, because if I could write up all of it from my head, these boards would be flooded with 25 different threads each containing five to ten pages of fluff info on each Chapter.

Do you have an army of each of these guys? A squad?

At the very least a playable force each (the final three Chapters are currently only 1 HQ and 2 Troops each while all the rest at least fill up half of the Force organization chart). The Warp Falcons are currently the largest army collection (3 Companies worth of troops).

The only exception is Tomb Scorpions who were going to be created for Dawn of War. Though there was the problem that my computer was so trash and the DoW requirements so ridiculous that I haven't been able to play them. Once the Red Scorpion models are released from Forge World I'll be making a Tomb Scorpion Killteam.

Which we would all love. Most people here would love to see that many well written articles, so don't let that hold you back. We have very little to comment on at the moment, thus we can't give that much feed back.

Ferrata

It happens every so often, but I agree with Ferrata* - nobody would complain if you were to start detailing your chapters further. Committed posters - that's the very lifeblood of the Liber. You throw your ideas out at whatever speed you can, and we'll do our best to throw our comments back. You might even be able to improve upon some of your ideas.

*I think the stars must be in alignment or something... :P

It will take me a whole load of time to just write one in full detail (I'm very busy in RL, I don't like writing, and my grammar is um sub-par...).

SO to get the ball rolling I'd like to know what everyone thinks of the ideas for each Chapter (to give me more of an idea to which one I should detail more first).

You won't get brilliant feedback at the moment simply because of the way your thread is formatted. If it was arranged, chapter-by-chapter, you'd be able to get better feedback. Right now it's a headache just to read - you have to scroll up and down just to try to make sense of what you're reading.

Ok ... yowza.

I chose the Star Blades because ... the name is cool to me.

I can see where the chapter traditions would honor the way of steel (ala Conan). This translates to the sword more so than to an axe. The Chapter uses more tanks than other Chapters in the region to break the enemy or overrun strongly defended postions. Close-combat is the preferred method when using troops because each marine is a master with bolter and sword.

:P

Question: Why are the majority of the chapters led by someone called Talon? Is it a honorific, does it have some deeper significance across the family of chapters, or do you just like the name? ;)

You do realize that the guy has the name talon in his forum username so that is quite suggestive dont you think?

The Original Chapter Master of his Original Chapter is called Heru Talon, so I'm guessing he joined after making this fluff.

As for the names, it says all the original veterans took on Heru's second name, this must have passed onto the other chapters.

Ferrata

Warp Falcons

- Don’t like how their gene-seed has “fixed” the Raven Guard gene-seed. Please explain how this was possible.

It seemed fixed in the cloning process, (less genetic mutations that normally happen when you clone geneseed), even though they hadn't tried to fix it. Although even though the successors to the Warp Falcons seem fine (apart from the Golden Minotaurs of course), there has been allot of problems with the successors of the successors.

Golden Minotaurs

- If they are better (i.e. stronger, tougher and bigger) than the average marine, why hasn’t the Imperium used them to make all the new Chapters?

- Chapters are not allowed to be based upon Forgeworld

They tried but for some reason the mutations didn't transfer on to their successor Chapters. In addition there appears to be problems with some of their successors (The Warlords of Nyx are ultra aggressive and the Hounds of Cerberus seem to be mentally unbalanced - the barking during a battle issue...).

Void Talons

- Don’t like how Librarians are sent to Titan, I think this is flawed

- Same goes for them sending Librarians to another Chapter

It was a way to explain why the Void Talons had no Psykers (seeing as BT rules don't have them), and also a way to explain how the Blue Paladins as Void Talon successors had a large number of psykers.

Tomb Scorpions

- Inquisitors do not found Chapters

- Them being infiltrated on Mars flawed. Why would the Imperium waste marines?

The High Lords founded them, the Inquisiton got the job of training them (more specificly the Ordo Xenos) so they would specifically be able to deal with Necrons.

Blood Hammers

- The whole “We are Blood Angels look-a-likes” needs more details.

It's one of those successors of successors genetic mutations I mention at the start of this reply.

Blue Paladins

- Don’t really like this chapter. First, Ultramarine gene-seed is the most stable

Most stable doesn't nessarily mean that their geneseed will produce the most powerful psykers.

- The Grey Knights already have a mini-me chapter, they don’t need another

Who?

Protectors of Genetic Purity

- Major flaws in this chapter.

- They aren’t created by the High Lords (not good)

- Inquisitors don’t join all three groups

- Recruits need to be between 10-14

Cursed Founding/Dark Founding can explain the not created by High Lords bit (though there is room to wonder if one or more High Lords may have had at least something to do with those Foundings.

What I meant by "Inquisitor Lord of the Ordo Xenos, Ordo Malleus and Ordo Hereticus all at the same time", was that he seems to have the access status even though he isn't technically an Inquisitor.

The Knights of Genetic Purity, although I said Storm Trooper Regiment aren't trained by the Schola Progenium (they are more like Grenadiers). They live as a fleet of like minded people, which includes semi civilian and military ships. Which explains where the Protectors get their child recruits.

Sons of the Black Pyramid

- Chapters are created by the High Lords

Ferrata

Actually I've been thinking extra hard on these guys recently, and finally decided to put them as a Cursed Founding Chapter. The point of which being, was the the people behind the Cursed Founding in an effort to get Space Marines that were immune to the lure of Chaos made a Space Marine chapter purely out of recruits with the Pariah Gene.

They were quite loyal to the Imperial Creed for awhile until somepoint in time in which a(the) mysterious passed by their home system.

At which point in time the Chapter was recovering after a long Campaign against the Eldar. When the Dyson Sphere got close enough to their system the previously named Sons of Steel turned upon the civilian population of their planet and the Imperial Forces of the surrounding planets with such speed and ferocity that neither the Civilians nor the Imperial Forces could properly organize a resistance.

And seeing that the Sons of Steel were Pariah's no-one could send out astropathic signals of distress. Only one ship managed to make it to another Imperial system after 60 years floating in the Warp. The ship was severly damaged, and the crew was long since dead. So only the barest of details could be made out from the ship's logs.

It was not long after the event that a Chapter sporting the Sons of Steel colour scheme started to appear alongside certain Necron forces. The only difference being that the Sons of Steel Chapter symbol was replaced by a Black Pyramid with green light shining from it's uppermost point.

Inquisitorial forces sent to the original Sons of Steel homesystem found everything in ruins, with all life (including Flora and Fauna) had been extinguished.

Question: Why are the majority of the chapters led by someone called Talon? Is it a honorific, does it have some deeper significance across the family of chapters, or do you just like the name?
Heru Talon was initially a Captain in the Raven Guard, when he was picked to be the First Chapter Master for the then Mercy Falcons he took a number of Veteran Sergeants with him (all of which served under him), in a mark of respect they took his last name.

Now if you look at the names of the first lot of Successors to the Warp Falcons you see that those intially RG Vet Sargs survived long enough to become Chapter Masters in their own right (and so it sort of became a tradition that the successors of the now Warp Falcons and their successors would use the last name Talon).

Note: Heru is actually the Kemetic(Egyptian) way for saying MY RL name (which I couldn't use on Heru Talon seeing as it would be seen as Heresy in the 40k verse).

Heru: I have just made a Deceiver Worshipping chapter. You may want to check it out, called the Sons of Paraeus and is in my sig.

Pariahs rule all.

I saw that thread earlier, my initial thoughts were "Good Gods, that guy stole my idea!!". Then I read abit more and saw how the two Chapters are very different from one another.

I saw that thread earlier, my initial thoughts were "Good Gods, that guy stole my idea!!". Then I read abit more and saw how the two Chapters are very different from one another.

Not really. Our chapters are very different. VERY different.

So it just happened to fix it self. It managed to activate/grow the genetics required for the missing organs and the fauly organ. Doesn't seem believable to me.

It was a way to explain why the Void Talons had no Psykers (seeing as BT rules don't have them), and also a way to explain how the Blue Paladins as Void Talon successors had a large number of psykers.

Many other, more realisitic ways. Lack of Psykers = Betrayed by one. Feel that they too easily fall.

Numeroues Psykers = Feel that to fight Chaos you need to be able to control it

The High Lords founded them, the Inquisiton got the job of training them (more specificly the Ordo Xenos) so they would specifically be able to deal with Necrons.
Necrons are a new threat, so I'm not sure many people would be masters at fighting them. Makes more sense that another chapter would train them.

Who?

Exorsists (sp?)
