space wolf
I figured since the first one went so well, I figured I would start a kill team...here is the 2nd model I'm working on at the moment. C&C welcome the body http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-200S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-201S.jpg and the head http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-202S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-203S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-204S.jpg
Chronophague
He looks really short now that you have extended his arms to the side since it gives away the marines gorilla anatomy really well. You might want to lengthen his torso in some way, with your GS skills it should be no problem at all, give him pants that end at the knees, or similar stuff. Maybe put him on a rock or something, even a slight elevation from the base might help some. Other than that I think it looks kinda promising, he surely has got the confident approach, that's the "bring it" pose :P I think you could do a completely awesome pose if you took inspiration from the pic already posted in the previous thread from the "last samurai", it would give one of the marines a sort of noble, wise look, which would suit the squad leader really well. I'll repost the pic here for convinence. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/lastsamurai4.jpg Cheers
ironloki
Looking sweet. Never knew you were a dab hand at the old GS spacewolf ;) I would move him a bit to the left base wise as he is not centred at the minute and I think putting him in the middle of the base would look better. Can't wait to see more stuff :P
Brother Renn
Looking very good Space Wolf. Your GS skills are quite good. The head looks especially interesting, with the topkknot and all. I do agree with Ironloki, though. I think he should be centered more on the base. And as Chronophague stated, making one of the marines to look like the Samurai in the photo would be awesome. Keep up the good work.
Gyson_Vore
The way he is posed, I see a guy with grenades ready to jump into the fangs of a hive tyrant or something. What do you plan on giving him? I really like the shoulder pads, how did you do those? Just a bunch of ammo puches glued together? The GS work is really good, and the hair is really acurate with traditional japanese style. Master Chaplain Astador
Looks good, can't wait for more!
space wolf
thanks for comments guys keep'em commin'...I've extended the legs a bit, the GS is drying right now...I'll put some pics up later... there is a reason as to why he isnt centered very well...and I figured I would use a diagram to explain. I drew this in literally 35 seconds so dont fault me if it looks like a 3 year old did it ^_^ http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-205S.jpg the left over space will be used for the sword which will be slightly embedded into the ground...basically the pose is supposed to be like the guy is getting charged and he unsheathed his sword and stuck it in the ground for easy access. in the mean time he is firing the plasma gun, but they are getting close now, so hes about to sling the gun and pick up his sword...I'm very well aware that a "real" samurai would probably never do such a thing as put his sword into the ground...but I think it adds a little drama to the pose...:)
JTDemon
definitly gonna make a cool kill team! I like how you're using the pouches for shoulder pads , really makes these marines your working on distinguishable from just about any I've seen.:D only problem being.. I WANNA MAKE A SAMURAI MARINE NOW!! :)
Darrell
Space Wolf, it's very cruel how you kidnapped a three year-old and forced him to draw that for you. ;) It's hard to say much about the model this early in the process, save for the shoulderpads which look very nice. Looking at the sketch you (And by you I mean the three year-old you forced to draw it!) did, I think the pose will look quite nice, assuming he's a commander type. That pose looks more like a commander, pausing in a hail of bullets to cover the charge for his squadmates, nonchalantly pulling off a few rounds like he's at Morning Firing Rites. Samurai Marines are always a cool opportunity to combine melee and range (Which you should be used to with your Space Wolves!). I'll keep an eye out for the progress of the model. :)
Demoulius
hmmm :) samurai marines.... make this mini as cool as your previous one and you got my total support ;)
space wolf
ok, here is progress so far...I cant say that there is much left to be done on this guy.... http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-206S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-207S.jpg
Brother Renn
Looking good Space Wolf. The only criticism I have is that the sword isn't very straight. It looks kind of wavy. Other than that, great job. How many more do you have to build for your kill team? I've never built one or played any games of that small size so I'm not familiar with the force composition. maelis
This is excellent.. first a model, then a kill team, then a patrol crew and finally an army :)
INKS
just take your hobby knife and shave it a little to make it appear more straight. should work. otherwise perfect :)
space wolf
already done  Let me ask you guys something. Do you think I should paint them all the same color, or go with a more "Samurai" look, and paint them all different collors, with different heraldry? The Angelus Sanctus
Ugh... my post got eaten >.< Anyway, since it wasnt LENGHTY i can happily repeat myself. Instead of using GS, try using bits of sprue carved and bended into the shape of a blade. You'll get a more defined shape with alot more straight edges than using GS. Ive done this technique before for a sword on one of my Aspring Champions for my EC: Aspring Champion w/ Custom Power Sword
Kobrakai
The model looks great. I found a part on GW's online shop which might be of use to you? Bendy sword You might find use for it? Good luck!
Aidan
The model looks great. I found a part on GW's online shop which might be of use to you? Bendy sword You might find use for it? Good luck! No very katana like, but I really like that bit  I think I'm going to picka few up. Will look good on my white scars. Thanks for the find. I'm really digging the pose. Iron out the sword and get started on a new one! I'm loving this project!
Shinohai
of course its not straight, its a katana and those are not straight swords. looking great btw, cant wait to see more. i think you should go with traditional samurai style, each marine different depending on their level of experiance and earned honor. Obliterator
already done :) Let me ask you guys something. Do you think I should paint them all the same color, or go with a more "Samurai" look, and paint them all different collors, with different heraldry? Different paintjobs & heraldry. No doubt about that.

space wolf
ok, the model is done...now I want to warn you, for some reason my camera likes to be hypersensitive. Basically, the paint on the model looks pretty thick really close up...but it actually isnt.. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-213S.jpg the face doesnt look anything close to this rough... http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-214S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-215S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-216S.jpg

space wolf
here is a sneak peak at the next one...the two swords will be twin lightingclaws rules wise http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-217S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-218S.jpg
Gyson_Vore
I would say the other blade should be a wakazashi, as that would be what they used. Also he would 'technicly' be a ronin, as Samurai were dishonored by using two blades at once. ((Could be explained as the katana opens armour, and the wakazashi finishes it.
