blamb
you need to chop up his left foot to make it flat on the ground (it would probably look bad leaning against something the way it is). and also the wrist on the left arm looks odd, too long. but other wise i love it. Carados
Goodstuff ^_^ Might be covering his face a little too much now but I don't think that is really an issue now. Could we possibly get a group shot of the kill team so far? (On a side note I edited my previous post in which I actually said the opposite of what I wanted to say <_< ). MithrilForge
 Well this stuff is coming along verrry nicely,he looks really good now...the wrist still looks a little uncomfortable but its fine still. as to the two swords style, remember Miyamoto Musashi(The book of 5 rings)probably the most famous of all Samurai, created a system of fighting which used two swords...so i see your samurai Marine amongst good company <_< cant wait to see further updates, well done mithril
ant258sniper
thanks for comments guys keep'em commin'...I've extended the legs a bit, the GS is drying right now...I'll put some pics up later... there is a reason as to why he isnt centered very well...and I figured I would use a diagram to explain. I drew this in literally 35 seconds so dont fault me if it looks like a 3 year old did it :D http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-205S.jpg the left over space will be used for the sword which will be slightly embedded into the ground...basically the pose is supposed to be like the guy is getting charged and he unsheathed his sword and stuck it in the ground for easy access. in the mean time he is firing the plasma gun, but they are getting close now, so hes about to sling the gun and pick up his sword...I'm very well aware that a "real" samurai would probably never do such a thing as put his sword into the ground...but I think it adds a little drama to the pose...;) na mate iit is realy good i ma 15 and carnt draw like that if i took a whole week
Retribution
About the 2 sword thing. The Samurai acclaimed to have been the best swordsmen in Japanese History is Miyamoto Musashi, who used a double sword technique. Don't quote me though, this is stuff I've read about the place and not all of it can be seperated from Fiction. I love the idea and really think some simple Kanji would add to the models. http://www.nippobrasil.com.br/2.semanal.aula/157_kanji/katana.jpg The symbol for Katana. Also meaning 'To cut'. Simple and also very descriptive. http://bandierejp.hp.infoseek.co.jp/giapponese/kanji/yama.gif Yama. Meaning mountain. Also used as a suffix to names, though thats not really important. Simple too. http://www.kanjisite.com/images/kanji/3k/ryoku_chikara.gif Chikara. Strength. Similar to Katana but of course the extra bit of line changes the meaning (The kanji for Big becomes Dog with a dash in the wrong place ;) ). Love the models so far. Will make a very nice Kill Team! penguin_16
I know this might seem padantic, and I know you probably wont want to do this, but... It would look so cool if the right hand with the painful wrist was holding the sword backwards in his hand behind his back, so the blade isn't going away from his hand, it is going back with it. But very good conversions.
space wolf
thanks for comments guys...about the wrist...the GS is dry and it doesnt bother me any, so I'm gunna leave it where it is. If you compare the latest pictures to the older ones, its in a much less extreme angle...looking at my own arm in the same position, it looks pretty accurate to me. space wolf
Here he is essentially done...just need to add a banner and some scabbards...once painted I'll put up a group pic of the three I have done so far. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-248S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-249S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-250S.jpg
Night Dragon
I am very impressed, but think that you should file down the swords a bit more. They seem a little wavy, and from what I know of katanas, they must be expertly crafted to preform with the prestige usually associated with them. It seems like it should be smoother. It seems as though the model is still open to work, so that is the only thing that I have to say. Past that, incredible!
space wolf
pretty much painted up, just need to add a banner and paint that. the paint looks like crap in these pictures ^_^ ...looks much nicer in person http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-251S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-252S.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-253S.jpg

Shinohai
i still dont understand why people thought the wrist looked painful, looked just fine to me. model looks fantastic, especially after you extended the hat.
blamb
i noticed something with the latest smaurai, it's to do with his scabbards. Every samurai i have ever seen wielding two swords (even if one stays in it's scabbard) has both scabbards in the same place, on the same side of his waist. though i have only seen samurai in movies. just something that looked a bit odd to me. but it's looking good
HellChyld
all I have to say is where is the group pic you promised you put up and how the hell did I miss this thread!!! Looking good you old dog lets see the rest and how many are you planning on making total?
space wolf
thanks for positive comments (I always like getting my ego stoked-just look at my sig :P ) anyway.... as for the scabbards, you are right, they are usually on the same side (well the wakasashi is normally in the front and the katana either on the back [during war] or on the side) but since this are samurai marines, I figure I can take some liberties...besides it would be cool to watch the guy cross his arms and draw both swords at the same time. as for the group shot, I'm just putting the finishing touches on the model's banner almost as I type...it should be up sometime later today. I plan to do 7, as a reference, here is my kill team list those who care... Vet Kill Team 7 Marines (includes serg) bp and ccw 1 LC 1 Plasmagun vetserg bolt p and pweapon. the three I have built are the plasmagun (grey), lightning claw(brown), and vet serg marines(red). space wolf
You're not the only one doing a futuristic-themed Akira Kurosawa homage you know, thats funny...I never planned it to coincide so well with the seven samurai...in fact, until you mentioned it, I hadn't really thought about it...just proves there are no real coincidences :P

flyinghippo
For the swords, try getting the lego katanas. They're about the same size and have a really nice shape to them too. Cool idea with using the equipment pockets. Finally a use for those things
