New Samurai Marine ++kill team++ WIP

Recommended Posts

I reall really like the Samurai Marine - the one with the face mask and very loong katana wannabe sword.

The one with the two sword ..... its a tough one.. I really like the concept - Perhaps it's because its almost near impossible to catch that concept in reality ^_^

The plasma weapon armed dude - he's.... blue. And... well.... sort a cool... but not really my type..

Sorry ;)

But I still love your red beserker style Samurai!

this thread is probably dead, but I'll keep it goin' for completion's sake

here are two more I've been working on, the first is probably my least favorite built so far :)

any thoughts or suggestions?

The first guy looks a little off, whether it's just the odd helmet ((Which the horns look good on)) or the swords crossed in front of him. It just looks like to me he's trying to shoot sparks off from the blades. What were you trying to get with him?
its not actually two swords, its a sword and scabbard...he's using the scabbard to perry while striking home with the blade...at least that is what he will be doing, he's getting himself in position.

I was wondering why the other one wasn't particulary... sword like  . But yeah, he does look a little iffy.

You've inspired me to do my own samurai marines  I have a plastic blue tac mock up in front of me and he looks mighty fine  . Although I think I'll have trouble doing the weapons unless they come in the curved shape as standard... GS isn't my strong point ;)

I did ask before but it must have got overlooked (or I overlooked  ):

How do you do the banners?

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/space_wolf/MVC-272S.jpg

i fixed the wrist so that the sword is facing directly outwards...I think it makes the model look a bit better, and I nolonger hate it :P

I've pretty much finished the other one as well, I just need to add bannerpoles on both of them, which is easier said than done, as I have run out of the prefabricated metal ones :P ...any ideas?

C&C welcome

as for the requests on how to do the banners, here's what you do.

what you will need:

a sheet of wax paper

vaseline or petrolium jelly

a sharp knife

a fine point marker

green stuff (of course)

Step One: preparation.

-mix up some green stuff, make sure you make enough to encompass the size of the banner you want.

-Then rub some vaseline on the sheet of wax paper...this will prevent the GS from sticking to the paper.

Step Two: "the smashing"

-plop the GS onto the wax paper, and fold the paper over so that the GS is "sandwiched" by the Wax paper.

-then take your marker, and like a rolling pin roll out the GS until its the thickness you want.

Step Three: drawing and cutting

once its flat, on the wax paper, use the marker to draw an outline of the shape that you want.

once done carefully cut along the drawn lines...NOTE: dont drag the point along the line, use the entire flat surface of the knife to press deeply into the GS.

Step Four: finishing touches.

-once step three is done, carefully peel back the wax paper. use your knife to separate the access "GS flash" from the shape you cut...you may need to do a little bit more cutting, as you knife may not have cut the GS all the way through the first time.

-then put some vaseline on your fingers to keep the banner from sticking to your fingers, and carefully peel it off the remaining layer of waxpaper.

-then simply wrap it around the banner pole. use your fingers to carefully bend the GS in the manner you wish to make it look as though the wind is blowing through it.

-Then take some needlenose plyers and grip the bottom of the bannerpole.

-take a rubberband and wrap it around the plyer's grip so that the plyers stay firmly attached to the banner pole...then just lay it whereever to let the GS dry. NOTE: gravity is a factor, if you want you banners to stick out horizontally (ie perpendicular from the vertical bannerpole) then lay the poll on its side, with the GS hanging over the edge of a table or something.

In the case of my banners, I simply cut essentially a rectangle, with five square "fingers" sticking out of the top and one side. then I wraped the fingers around the pole.

This method was not originated by me, but I got it from a website called drunken dwarves located here.

more progress...2 more to go ;)
