lordthrom3
I have now re-written my background, adding more detail etc. but it is not written in stone and I am still open to comments on what I Should change. My background was also designed so that I could tie my SM army and my possible future projects (IG, Eldar and Necrons) together. Helios In 242.M36, The Helios System was colonised by a combined Adeptus Mechanicus and Sons of Throm force. The Helios system provides promethium for the Imperial forces fighting against the Tau. This system is located on the eastern fringe, near to the Tau Colonies and the inhabitants have frequently fought against the alien empire. One Such Example of this was a crusade to reclaim many systems on the fringes of the Tau Empire and during this crusade, the Helios regiments fought alongside the Sons of Throm Space Marine Chapter. Around 500.M41, The System fought off a second Ork Waagh! This force of Orks was led by the warlord +NAME EXPUNGED BY THE INQUISITION+. Upon Stheno, the Systems forces fought the orks before they could get a foothold in the system. Shaken by his defeat, the Warlord decided that it would be easier to find weaker prey elsewhere and his Waagh! Invaded a different system. It appeared years later that the Imperial forces had not acted fast enough. Ork tribes were attacking the local populace in the Jungles of Stheno. If these tribes continue to grow at their current rate and combine, they would be strong enough to form their own Waagh! In the year 997.M41, Eldar forces began attacking villages and convoys on the planet Cerberus. A force of Space Marines was sent to assist the PDF to prevent these attacks. However, on the day after their arrival, a storm swept across the great deserts of the planet, whipping sand p into great clouds that choked anything that got in their way. Through that cloud marched a legion of metallic skeletons. The Imperial forces withdrew whilst the Eldar attacked the strange army. The imperial commanders evacuated the planet and withdrew their forces, happy to allow the two Xenos forces to battle each other whilst they prevented either escaping though space. The battle raged on for many months before it became apparent that neither force was going to be defeated. An Exterminatus was executed upon the planet by the Imperial fleet and the planet Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86836-sons-of-throm/ Share on other sites
Ferrata
Seems like a good start, although I'm not sure if Necrons where present in 242.M36. Do you mean they fought in the 13th Crusade, or the time was just after it? lordthrom3
After it, During the crusade, the Tau took advantage of the distraction and expanded their empire loads didn't they? Why wouldn't necrons be awake? maybe these particular ones judged the time to be correct. Even if they couldn't be awake at that time, thats why I posted here, what year should I use instead of 242. M36? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86836-sons-of-throm/#findComment-1005886 Share on other sites
Commissar Molotov
My understanding is that the first recorded encounter with Necrons was in 897.M41, at Sanctuary 101, where a Sisters of Battle outpost was massacred. In the ~102 years since the Necrons have appeared, they've advanced rapidly. They're hugely superior to the Imperium, especially in space. What did the Helios system do for the ~4,000 years before the wars against the Tau? My other concern is that if they were Imperial Fist successors, they would have no Sus-an Membrane, not a weak Sus-An Membrane. B) Aside from that, the chapter looks decent enough - once you've added more I'm sure you'll be able to get in-depth feedback from people. lordthrom3
Ok, i really need to change that necron thing then. As far as the Sus-an membrane goes, I was thinking it could have been manipulated by whoever deals with that stuff. The Lamenters were an adapted version of the Blood Angels Genus that had had the black rage stuff removed so I was thinking they could do the opposite and add the Sus-an back in. I'm thinking an ork Waagh should fill some of that gap. What do you guys think? any other ideas I should put in instead or as well? IronKaiser
I like how you plan on tying in your other armies to this fluff. I'm thinking an ork Waagh should fill some of that gap. Entirely plausible since fluff-wise the orks are a common threat throughout the galaxy. It would definately need to be developed a bit further though. Taking a look at the dark millenia galaxy map, there was a Waaagh by an ork warlord from the planet Alsanta from 450.M41 to 996.M41. Alsanta is located in the easter fringe near the tau homeworlds, maybe this could be of some use. lordthrom3
Now that is a long Waaagh! . Any idea what the ork warlords name was? This would actually help me take the idea of my Marines only fighting Tau away. So now I have an Ork waagh, an attack on the Tau and a war between Necrons and Eldar. Thanks for your help so far everyone. I'll post my updated and elongated version in the next few days once i have typed it up. +Added Full Story+ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86836-sons-of-throm/#findComment-1006072 Share on other sites
IronKaiser
Unfortunately that's pretty much all the information the website gives. Keep in mind though that it is old fluff and GW might have changed things. But it does seem a bit obscure to me so maybe someone else could clear this up?
