Crimson Retainers

All right gents, this is not my primary DIY Chapter, and to be quite honest it was originally written for someone else a while back. Apparently that individual has sided with the vile xenos and turned his back upon the rightous warriors of the Emperor, thus I have picked up the torch and begun to run with it. As always, your time, consideration and comments are appreciated. Gentlemen, I give you the Crimson Retainers.

The Crimson Retainers

Gene-seed: Blood Angels (84.67 % - Slight variables were detected inside the gene-seed. Likely hypothesis is alteration/modification at the genetic level.)

Founding: 21st (Cursed Founding)

Planet based: Toroth Mundi (With substantial fleet capability.)

Current Location: Orbital Battle Station / Fortress Monastary (The Dread Fortress) around the moon Toroth Minor w/ training and supply base inside the moon itself.

Last Reported Location: Unknown

Current Mission Status: Sustained Combat Operations

My lords, once again, I must beg your forgiveness in the current matter at hand. That being the elucidation of this most obscure Chapter. The Crimson Retainers are without a doubt a 21st founding successor chapter of the Blood Angels. After arduous research I have found what I believe is the authentic briefing data for this and two other Chapters, the Lamenters and the Iron Prophets. (On a personal note I will be undertaking a similar fact finding mission for the latter named Chapter in the near future.)

What primarily drew me to this theory was how both the Crimson Retainers and the Lamenters initially underwent the same regimen of training and shares many of the heraldic icons and Chapter specific practices of the Blood Angels. From what I have gathered, both of the fledgling Chapters were designated to undergo extensive gene-seed manipulation to either erase or alter to the point of non-issue the so called

sounds intriguing - although why would teh High Lords have set up a Marine Chapter to be based around a world such as this? And wouldn't the governor of the planet be a little les "corrupt" if he had 1000 marines sitting a few hudnred clicks above his head?

Also, not 100% sure about the whole "title" thing - these need to be thought out maybe - perhaps Tyrant is a more fitting title?

Good points all,...still working on it for the most part. As for the reason they were stationed there, I am torn between them being used as a mobile strike force for that whole region and that planet has the best possible recruits under the circumstances OR due to the religious practices, it has slowly but surely over time integrated itself so deeply into the Chapter that they are hesitant to recruit outside initiates. I am leaning more towards the latter as it fits into the whole grand paranoia idea. Now as for the local govt., this is where it gets convoluted. I am toying with the concept that it has all been set up by the Chapter,...the entire planet has been turned into one giant ball of paranoia. The more terror and hardship, the better the recruits; that and its easier to control the planet. Additionally there are several smaller sub plots I want to introduce into the whole background. The corruption thing was one of them,...I want it to be much worse than that. Anyway, bottomline, it needs more work.

Pretty funky. I love the image of the rogue servitors running around crazily. Remind me heavily of the night lords which is a good thing. My chapter has had some dealings with the inquisition with reportings of dark forces on the planet but these are only rumours. Wouldn't the inquisition be heavier on these marines if they are allowing mutants and Heretics to operate underneath their noses unless your just saying that these are just rumours and that the Chapter claims no such things exist. I mean who would you believe the loyal marines of the Emperor or some deranged local? ;) :tu:

Also how recently has the inquisitors started to notice this? that could also give you a way out because if they are only investigating recently it would bode better than if the inquisition have known about this for hundreds of years?

Any idea of a colour scheme? Im not sure of the name though. When I think or retainers I think of braces for teeth ;)

The Inquisition would be looking at the governor more than the marines. They (Astartes) don't rule the planet. It's the Planetary Governors job to execute Imperial Law. The marines just happen to use the same planet as a base of operations.

This is not absolute of course. Even if the Crimson Retainers "have considerable sway" - the governor and the Astartes are seperate entities. Problems with the planet need to be solved by the governor and the Arbites.

The governor can call on the Marines to help, but if that is not happening then something is afoot!! But the Inquisition would look at the Governor first.
