Are these for fun games and with friends? Or are they for a GT Army?

If for a GT Army they will (mabye) not be allowed. GW has stated that in a GT ALL Models must be GW products, unless converted, then they must be 50% or more GW products.

Now for fun Y's are some of the best quick make jobs, plus they look good.

You can use some plasticard and make wings for a soda can or buy some of these new ones from Austraila.

With enough paitence you can convert anything and make it look good.

so you couldn't build your own if you went to a GT? would that mean you'd have to buy a forgewold model?

Its hard to tell from the posted rules. If you go to the GW news site and look at the posted rules for Chicago GD/GT, it says All models must be GW or forgeworld models. It dosent mention convertions at all (at least it didnt the other day).

The rule before was you can use any self made model as long as it was 50% or more a GW model.

So if they still allow that rule you could buy some of the Austrailian ones, weigh them, then add the same weight in GW bits. You would be following the rule of 50% or more.

Seems like a to of trouble for something that just needs a stormbolter though.

I cant tell you PD.

All models must be Citidel models.

Is as much as the rule says.

Okay they changed it agin. It now says Citidel minitures/models.

Then in the packet itself it says Converstion must have Began as a Citidel mini, and must be a majority of citedel mini parts.

Here is the link.

ahh but does that go out the window with the question: Can we use either of the 'home' builds for a GT tourny?

I myself really need to know as i am working on a paper&foamboard mockup.

if they made it the same price as a Rhino i'd buy one (or two or three....), but it would be a little over a $100 Canuck bucks to get just one.

We may need an official answer as there is only a forge world kit, is it ok to make our own to represent a drop pod?

the question remains.

The US rules no longer say anything about scratch built models. They did in previous years, now they don't. I would suggest you mail the GW Events Team for your Territory and ask for an explicit answer, print the answer including the email header, take it with you to the event.

*shrug* The key points are...

1. email the Events Team not the Roolz Boys or general CS.

2. Bring the email with you to the event. If you want to be extra sure ask the Events Team to forward your email to the Events Coordinator for that specific event to get the event from them.

Have you really gotten several different answers, or are you just being flippant?

If you did, then just print out the answer that you got that you liked and bring that.

Seriously, guys, if they look nice, and are not from another company, no one is going to make a fuss. Now, if you bring upside-down flower pots with storm bolters glued on top like I saw once...

Talking to my local GW staff, there may well be a plastic drop pod model in the first half of 2007. Unfortunatly, it will likely just be a scan of the forgeworld one much like the Pirahna and Skyray were for the tau. Why is this unfortunate? The model will still only represent a 5 man drop pod. Of course, They might make one from scratch, but I think it's less likely.

Like I said in the other thred, isent there a link to drop pod templates on one of the games workshop sites, I think it was the french site?

Indeed, it was on the French site, and there was a version on the German one as well, but neither lasted long before being removed under orders.
