clone trooper legion

well like most im going for my own chapter

for the medusa V ,

its loosely based on the clone legions from star wars,

they un-named as of now but I was thinking of giving them a number instead of a name such as the 261st legion/chapter, rather

than "blood or dark or space something" marines.

the amour is white, with colours only given to ranks or special roles such as red/white - commanders, captains. ( if you know your clone war history then think of ARC's )

blue/white for vet's ( clone commandos )

yellow/white for assault/pilots ( clone pilots )

orange/white for honour guard/command squads ( commander Cody, the Clone Commander of the 212th Attack Battallion )

white basic marine ( clone trooper )

They are a very non codex chapter, who refer to themselves as a legion not a chapter, they number around 1200 marines in all (in honor to the 1.2 million clones who fought in the clone wars )

each company is 200 strong, armed with its own tanks, dreadnoughts,

bikes, landspeeders and even their own strike cruiser.

They are led by 6 commanders who lead the company and also take part

in top secret missions !

each and every marine is given a number on completion of his training this number is then used when recording mission data and answering higher ranked marines. but all marines carry a chosen name which is only used by squad mates and the closet of friends.

well there you go, my boys....

an ideas ?

Well, to me it sounds more like Imperial Guard. Guard also has more starwars-like vehicles (At-st) and massed troops, they even have laser weapons. Clone troopers have light armor, rather than the space marine big and bulky one, and are not ten times stronger than a regular guy..

I've seen somebody do it with guard, the painting werent all that great but he even had Vader as a commander, it was pretty cool.

Sounds like the old Death Spectres background. Rumor has it that they were clones and that they only recruited very rarely. When they did find a specimen/initiate/recruit and if he was one of the best then they would clone him. So you would have an entire Chapter made up of clones, not necessarily the same clones but a group of clones. You could say Series or Group 5, Clone 27, 3rd Squad, 2nd Company,...or possibly the name then ID numbers; Dashar 5-27/3/2. I know it runs the risk of sounding "Borg-ish" but on the other hand it does have a nice sterile, military sound to it. That and the numbering would be very cool on the armor. It would be a pain to paint but the look I think would be nice. That and I think you can get a good eerie feel to these guys background wise. I would definately come up with a name and a founding (to me these guys just scream Raven Guard, based on the old GW background) and would go from there. I am curious to see what you come up with. Hope I helped.

It's an interesting idea but if I were you, I'd seriously reconsider giving the chapter a number instead of a name. The numeric terminology you describe is more applicable to IG units where there are more than one unit coming from say Cadia for example. The individual's numbering scheme is rather interesting however.

indeed, this is more of an Imperial Guard thing to do. I, myself, have completely developed my IG army to represent the Clones from the Clone Wars, with Phase II armor. I use the Viridians to represent the Clone Troopers for models, and it works out loverly

Not to mention the Imperial Guard has...*ahem!* Storm Troopers!

you can use scouts to represent clones, however you may need to convert your models. plus its not that bad to give a chapter a number rather than a name, after all the original legions were numbered rather than named...

heres a hint for a name - 501st chapter ( after the 501st clone trooper regiment in starwars. they were the troopers that assaulted the jedi temple in Revenge of the sith and acted as the emperor's praetorians )
