ixupi
I was interested in scratch building a dreadnought out of a combination of odd bits, plasticard and greenstuff. Mainly because I wanted a project to start besides my painting, wanted a different 'feel' for my dreadnought and well to see if it can be done WELL. First off I was wondering if anyone knew of any tutorials on building your own dreadnought to begin with, or any sort of reference for that matter I could use. Secondly, seeing as how I don't have access to a dreadnought I was wondering if anyone had any clear pictures of a dreadnought standing next to a spacemarine for size comparison. I'd love a side profile as well, but I won't push it. Penitent Dreadnought
Bah, I've got to charge the batteries in the camera. Best I could find on the 'Net was this link. Spacker
Well, I've got 14 of the bulky lumps (still don't own a plastic one though), so if you need pics feel free to ask. Here are some size comparison shots I took long long ago: http://www.worldofspack.com/gw/terminators/dreadnought.htm http://www.worldofspack.com/gw/terminators/dreadnought2.htm http://www.worldofspack.com/gw/terminators/dreadnought3.htm If you'd like any other shots just describe what you need. I've also got a FW dread still in pieces, so I can post close ups of parts if you want that might help you work out how to model your own. Ravenwing Phil
This could be a pretty cool project if you do it well, I have just finished a model which could with a bit of tweeking be used as a dreadnought so here is some inspiration for you: http://bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?s...87012&hl=cyborg If you need a parts list or anything just ask. ixupi
Okay, thanks everyone! Those pictures were spot on Spacker, much thanks! Only problem now is getting a side profile to see the width! I think i'm going to tackle the project though. I'm going to start as soon as i'm finished typing and sketch out my design. My supplies are pending but will most definately consist of the following: wire, greenstuff, plasticard, random bitz if it calls for it. If you guys are interested let me know and i'll start up a thread to try documenting all this. My goal is pretty much to take the price of the dreadnought(GW) down from $40 to UNDER $20 for THREE. Which when I look over how much I payed for my current supplies is over estimating(taking into mind shipping etc.). So i'm sure this will appeal to other people like me who have no money what so ever and want to play this exspensive hobby. So let me know! Spacker
If you can hold on a couple of hours, I'll post some more pics - sides, top, back, etc. I'm stuck at work right now, but come 6pm BST I should be home and my camera and PC are right next to my 40k shelves ;) Right, here you go - http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack81 Hopefully those are clear enough for you, and I've included a rule in the background for scale - top row cm, bottom inches :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/87651-scratch-built-dreadnought-and-size-comparison/#findComment-1012827 Share on other sites

I can't thank you enough! I started writing the guide and I finished my concept sketches. Even went as far to premake a choppy 'dreadnought shoulder' to see how easy/difficult it'll be. So while i'll be abandoning this thread, keep an eye out for an updated one shortly. This project is definately getting done! -Saves the dread pics to hard drive and gets to work.- Hot damn, much thanks.
