Marine Test Scheme

Recommended Posts

I have recently created a test colour scheme for my third Marine army. I figured it would be easy enough to get the laurel and skulls from various kits and whatnot. I quite like this scheme.

I am open to suggestions as far as a name goes.

Thanks in advance,

looks like warlock purple...not my favourite colour in the world, besides me not liking that colour, it just looks like any other scheme(which isnt bad)

names...well they look liks ultras, so maybe a greek letter could be part of the symbol/nameage etc

i dont see them as a very aggressive army(colours look more passive) so id stay away from aggressive animals and such

Starks

Looks okay. Its an unusual colour scheme, but in a good way, honestly. I like it, but one thing that bugs me is the backpack. That little purple section doesn't seem to fit right, to me. I'd try playing around with the amount of purple on the backpack, but that's just my opinion. Like, maybe do the whole backpack purple or something like that. Try it if you want to, it really looks okay the way it is.

Hmm, looking at the icon I'm thinking something regal or aristocratic like.... monarchist even. What about,

The Imperial Dragoons. Or the <insert home world here> Dragoons.

(Dragoons were European soldies that were trained to fight on mounts and on foot.)

If I get any other ideas, I'll post them.

I like this combination but find that the primary flaw is the GW Interactive Painter. It just uses GW colors and the Liche Purple has a tendency to look a bit off to me. I would suggest going with a deeper purple for this scheme even if you have to (shudder) go away from GW paints. (I'm just being a smartass; I don't use any GW paints as there are way to many other options with a far wider selection of colors at better prices.)

As far as names go, this scheme speaks to me of Night, Midnight, Darkness or Storms.

The colours that I have chosen are actually a little darker than shown, as the GW painter messes with the colours a fair bit. I'll paint up a proper model to show and to see what you guys think of it.

If you think you can find a better, darker purple (a link to one), then I am open to suggestion.

Also, I was thinking of possibly doing either a deathwing or a black templar army with this scheme, leaning towards the BT army since I can give them older, more ornate pieces of armour that I think would fit with these colours.

I'm not the kind of person who is bothered by using the same name as someone else if it's something you really like but, I know that there are people out there of that mindset. If you're one of them, you might want to steer clear of Storm Riders; that's the name of my all bike/LS force. However, if that name floats your boat, go for it.

:)

I didn't really have any intention on using Storm Riders as a name. I was thinking more of a Roman feel for the army. The commander (chapter master in this case) would be called Praetor instead of the standardized chapter title.

As a name, I was thinking Praetorate or something along those lines. I plan to incorperate some Roman mythology into the background of the chapter once I decide fully what I want them to be. Once I fully flush out the background and whatnot of this chapter, I want to make it an Adeptus Romanis of sorts.

I also got together a list of bitz that either have my chapter insignia, or would make them look more romanesque. If you have any others to add, please feel free to do so.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Here is a picture of the list.
