Canada Games Day Pictures

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just got back from GD and I took some pictures, thought the B&C might be interested. There's some cool Marine stuff in the Golden Demon, but unfortunately my camera was being fidgety and refused to focus properly for a lot of them. I didn't stay for the judging, but I'm guessing the Chaplain in Terminator Armour from one of our very own here (can't remember who off the top of my head) did pretty well. Anyway, the pictures are up at my site, here: www.mattisrobot.wordpress.com enjoy!

DV8 won bronze in 40k single, I got first cut and I was proud to get first cut against the french and amazing painters espiceially in that categorey!

I have taken about 155 pictures of the Demon stuff also some pre-release and blah blah..

I'll add to this thread when I upload all this!

Aye I indeed placed Bronze in the 40k Single Miniature category. I was surprised, in fact, as I was expecting the French teams to take all the trophies. I was thinking maybe first cut. To get Bronze amongst a multiple French Slayer Sword winner and the Silver belonging to a very talented lady with many trophies under her..belt...already...is an achievement I'm proud to have accomplished.

Oh well...time to plan ahead and begin full-steam on next year's entries.

DV8

I think a large part of why the Europeans are "better" than the North Americans is because of their communal painting.

Or maybe it's not as uncool there as it is here.... or it could have something to do with them being professional artists who just happen to like warhammer

I am gonna get alot of people who disagree with me here BUT...

Did the judges this year just decide to give the 'visitors' the trophies because theyd traveled so far - or were the judges all from quebec?

basically - yes some very nice pieces, but not worthy of what they won.

The slayer sword - well ive never been a fan of bonamonts work anyway so I maybe biased. panting was nice but the actual piece itself was not in the 'warhammer ethos' in the slightest. Of course this is argueable, but the 'ogre' just looked like a badly sculpted human with sharp teeth to me.

40k single gold - look at it, enough said. silver was quite nice but I still prefered DV8s. I think the only thing that let DV8 down was the base - but for me you would have taken at least a silver.

Anyway rant over - sorry if I offended anyone but IMHO, so far in all this years GD's the judging has been off.

I think that the quality of the pictures belies the true scope of the winning models. We've seen excellent photos from DV8 of his Chaplain, so we know how good it is; certainly worthy of what it got. But for the other demon winners we only see blurred camera shots.

At first I thought the gold one was rubbish but the last few pics are a lot clearer and it certainly does have a nice sparkle to it but enough Xenos from me :)

Congrats DV8. I thought your chaplain was amazing but by jove thats some stiff competition. Look at the silver placing...wow. Very well deserved against such lovely looking models :D

Hey, just thought I'd let you guys know that the post on my site is now a journal of Games Day, you might find it interesting, but chances are you might not. :P Same link.

I read every word and laughed the whole time, cheers!! :D

"Dude, you totally missed and hit that clock tower." "I did not." "Dude, that is a giant gear. Those things aren't supposed to be on the outside. You broke it, dude. The Emperor is going to be so pissed."

...

So, why are we in the middle of this field? Seems a bit silly." "Shut it Johnson, and don't touch those random number generator cubes. This is war, damnit."

Dude, thanks for making me laugh :D :P :D
