refuse
Figured I had some need, others may need it too. So I am looking for some modelling suppliers online. I would like one place to order from (saves shipping), but would like suggestions. 1) Plastic modelling bits (Plastructs) 2) Green Stuff 3) Model Lighting supplies So where do you get yours and is there a one stop shop? And another asside: Green stuff. Do people prefer the tubes (seperate) or the ribbon (what I normally get)? refuse
well if you have a credit card I suggest you www.ebay.com especially for green stuff and for me the tubes is better than ribbons Got a credit card, so no problem. Was looking at GS on Ebay (pricey shipping). But for 3 boxes ($24.99) it adds $7.50 for shipping. Just ordered a bunch of magnets (from a place recommended here), was looking for the other things after I realized my local stores carry Evergreen not platstuct. -Q-
I use Greenstuff *A LOT*. I would *not* recommend the tube. The main popular complaint with the ribbon is that there's a lot wasted because the two colors touch. I do not consider this a problem. As a general rule, you will almost always need less GS for each modeling session than you think. I cut the smallest line I can off of my ribbon, trim out the center where it touches, line the two colors up at the middle and cut off what were previously the ends so the two colors match length. For most standard sized to medium sized figures this will create enough GS that one could need during the working period without putting fingers all over finished areas before they're dry. I bought the tube a long time ago following the roars of the internet crowd. The only advantages it has is for doing very large pieces (for which I'd usually use the cheaper white Apoxy anyway) and that the colors don't touch so you throw away less? I find it impossible to cut and very difficult to get an equal portion of each color. I previously ordered from theWarStore.com but they only carry the tube now. So I'm looking for a new supplier too. Never buy the GW stuff, it's too expensive. Keep your package in the dairy tray in the door of your fridge. It will last forever. That tube I mentioned I bought years ago is still in there fresh, I just used some a week or two ago. Plastruct can be ordered directly from Plastruct :D The only downside is that it's hard to imagine the scale though if I remember correctly they are very good about listing out sizes. I'm in the US, it was a while since I ordered but I don't remember any problems at all. I prefer to buy in store to support my local shops and see the scale in person. Plastruct is great for getting clear rod and the like which can often be hard to find locally though. I believe they carry their full line.
