Flames of Purgation
Hi, Below are some WIP shots of my St. Celestine. I'm really trying to push myself on this, and am pleased with some of what I've done. The colour scheme, of blue, bone, and red, is limited by the rest of my army, but beyond that, I'm game for any criticism and comments you've got. Be as ruthless as you like, my only request being that it is constructive - I'm looking ot imporve both the model and my skills. Thanks for any help on this B&C FoP http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j171/Fir...eyboy/Front.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j171/Fir...eyboy/Lside.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j171/Fir...eyboy/Rside.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/ Share on other sites
Herald_of_Nurgle
Personally so far I think the model looks great. I'm really digging the blue on her armor. Now get her done :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/#findComment-1018745 Share on other sites
Alpha PTP
Wow, that blue is AMAZING. I would love to know the recipe for it. :3 Alpha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/#findComment-1018760 Share on other sites
Obliterator
I'll echo the comments on the blue: it's gorgeous. The bone is a very nice touch as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/#findComment-1018803 Share on other sites
Flames of Purgation
Hi, Thanks. The blue is Regal to Ice. I've used this thorughout the army, but am getting better at it. For Celestine, I've worked the highlights higher with white, and added shading with glazes of midnight blue. I also used glazes of blue ink here and there. The sword is giving me some problems, as there is nothing on the other side to balance it. I've used metallics throughout the army (this is a centerpeice), but a plain metallic sword doesn't seem to cut it, and doing it in any of the three core colours will, I think, affect the composition of the model. Any critiques? Things to make it better? FoP Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/#findComment-1018879 Share on other sites
NoxI
That looks great! Maybe add some battle damage? I dunno if a saint would necessarily be battle damaged, but whatever. I'd say make the sword black with blue highlights, to show the energy "crackling down it's blade". But again, Celestine being a saint, it may be too dark. Flames of Purgation
Hi, An update. Front: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j171/Fir...yboy/update.jpg Rear: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j171/Fir...keyboy/rear.jpg Some more of the detailing has been picked out. The inner robe needs a bit of cleaning up, as do a few other things when magnified, but it seems to be coming along well. I'd like to put some sort of border or freehand pattern along the bottom edge of the skirt in order to "hem" the bone / red transition. Any ideas? One person has suggested using SE / NMM techniques on the sword, but with metallic paint - this will add to the impact, but tie in in with the rest of the army. Thoughts on this? The rear of the skirt could use a pattern, etc. to break it up, but will eventually be covered by the larger cape (TBA). Is it worth doing, or should I spare myself the effort? Any other C&C welcome and appreciated. FMB Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/#findComment-1022659 Share on other sites

CM Dante
The face, tabbard and armour all look great so far, lovely subtle colours and blending. The only thing I don't like is the sword on the sculpt itself, its always looked a bit off to me. Obviously this is nothing to do with what you have done but just the sculpt itself though. Great job so far, looking forward to seeing it completed. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/#findComment-1053230 Share on other sites
INKS
That blue is fantastic as has been said. The flesh tone and hair is also very nice. I've never noticed this before but she looks very male to me. It's the face, looks kinda feminine but also like a very fair male (kinda elvish male type face). Not you painting or anything just something odd I just noticed. zbo
I think you should paint the sword bone, It would tie it in with the model and look good to boot. Wish I could hgihlight like that :( well done mate. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88380-wip-celestine/#findComment-1053291 Share on other sites

FMB For a pattern on the back look for a transfer sheet from eithe rthe Bretonnian Men at arms boxed set or the Bretonnian knights/knights errant which has a large Fluer De Lys water transfer decal. Here is an example of it on my cannoness with a freehand border I painted in as well. http://images5.theimagehosting.com/CanonessRear.jpg I hope that helps!
