You have some good ideas here but it almost seems like you are trying to put too much in. I think if you nipped and tucked here and there you would be fine. An example of this is the Ristam part of the background. Chances are he is an adult and adults are taken into the Chapter as Marines. Generally, children are the recipients of the geneseed and only children. I think you could say that this guy was the one who found them and maybe his son was inducted as a honor to him and the family or as some type of life debt. You could say that the son of Ristam rose to the level of Captain or was a highly respected Vet, then the planet was destroyed. I might advise considering a different way for the planet to be destroyed as well, since the whole over zealous Inquisitor is quickly becoming cliche. Possibly a plague sown by chaos as an act of revenge against the Chapter,...maybe. Just a few thoughts, hope they help.

DIY stands for 'Do-it-yourself'; in this sense it means that you yourself are adding to the background and mythos of the 40k universe.

From the Index Astartes: Rites of Initiation article, it suggests that the oldest a newly inducted neophyte can typically be is around twelve for the earliest organs to take.

The reasoning for recruitment of such young recruits is that at the ages specified (between 8 and 14 years old, depending upon planetary factors. younger for most feral worlds, older for most hive worlds), is that at those ages, the youths are just begining to mature from child to young adult. Their bodies are being molded naturally by hormones to adult size, weight, and mass. What the introduction of SM organs and hypno-training does, is accelerate that growth, mold it to a purpose (to create a Space Marine in all his physical glory), and provide a fertile and save environment for the gene-seed to replicate so that upon death, the marine may have his gene-seed harvested to create more Space Marines.

All of this I've gathered over many years of reading various fluff sources, all printed by GW and FW, over the past couple of decades. Far too many sources to quote source, page, and paragraph for most of them. If you can get your hands on a 3rd edition codex:space marines, there is fluff within it on chapter creation and the sequence for implantation of organs.

Enough from me.
