Morfesto
I have a spare Obliterator and my plans is to use him as a daemon prince. I want to give him daemonic stature, would a Obliterator be the right size? I made him slightly taller by adding plasicard to his feet and I am going to use plasticard to inlarge his shoulder pads. I was wondering if there are other ways of making him look taller or bigger. Also I want to give him a raptor jetpack and say that he is too heavy for the jetpack to let him fly but it lets him leap so he can have Daemonic Speed, would this be good? Any ideas or coments would be appreciated. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88921-oblit-into-daemon-prince/ Share on other sites
Apemantus
I think the pose is important, a hunched model with his arms together may not be too intimidating but one with his arms spread wide, back straight and foot resting on something (IE a rock or a helmet) can make him seem larger than he already is Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88921-oblit-into-daemon-prince/#findComment-1022662 Share on other sites
ironloki
A picture says a thousand words :D . I think that you would need to enlarge him a bit though. Anyone know the general size of an oblit and the size of the standard daemon prince? Carados
Bigger than the plastic terminators, don't have a daemon prince though so I can't compare the two but they are certainly bigger than terminators. Chronophague
Well, I'd say a obliterator is large enough for a deamon prince, espessially if you bulk him up a bit. The question is, how much are you willing to chop up the obliterator? If you'd cut up his legs and repose the legs, you cold make the oblit a lot taller, since it has a really squat stance. That alone would make it look more like a DP, and less like an obliterator. Also, you need to think of a suitable head, and perhaps if you could change some aspects of the model, like adding armor plates and perhaps some bionic stuff to the model, to again make it look less like an obliterator. Also, if possible, you might want to look for replacement arms for the model, since the obliterators own arms are very distinct for obliterators, so changing them to something else, would really help the appearance. Also I want to give him a raptor jetpack and say that he is too heavy for the jetpack to let him fly but it lets him leap so he can have Daemonic Speed, would this be good? I thought the same thing, and thus gave him a few extra backpacks :D http://usera.imagecave.com/kronork/IronWarriors/DPNback.jpg Good luck Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88921-oblit-into-daemon-prince/#findComment-1022680 Share on other sites
Morfesto
So far I gained a fiew mm by cutting and bending his legs so he isn't squatting as much. I bent them cause I am trying to keep the cool hoses and tubes in tact as my greenstuff skillz are not that great. Ill try and get pics of what I have so far. The Angelus Sanctus
I vaguely recall someone on the board making a Slaaneshi daemon prince using the Obliterator body, although i cant for the life of me recall the name of the person who made the mini. Although it was a beautiful mini. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88921-oblit-into-daemon-prince/#findComment-1022758 Share on other sites
Freebooter
In AUS WD 301 Mark Jones had a step by step guide to painting his Plague Marines. He also had a pic of a particularrily nice but simple daemon prince made from an obliterator body with a head swap and some changes to his weapons. It was for nurgle but with a bit of work you could do it pretty well for any chapter. It probably ain't big enough for him to have daemonic stature but it would do as a daemon prince with 50+ points of gifts. I hope you're happy, it took me 15 minutes to find the article i was looking for. Morfesto
I have that white dwarf! He did a cool convertion with the obliterator but I like his terminiators the best. Well I cut the legs off and I am going to try and extend them. I might have pics tomorrow night depending how fast I can work. I am giving my Daemon prince a dreadaxe and a ccw so the obliterator arms will do just fine. :Edit: you sure it wasn't WD 300 ?? AkiraCho
obliterators are about 2/3rd the size of an actual demonic stature model, it would work as a regular demon prince tho.. StratoKhan
You can find some good examples online at - http://www.prophet-miniatures.com/ There is one in particular that looks tall enough to have stature, http://www.prophet-miniatures.com/gallery/...nurglelord1.jpg that one. The pose has been altered so he is standing straight. Morfesto
Excellent! Thanks a lot , there are many great examples there. Now lets just hope my GS skills are good enuff to do nice legs like that. On a lighter side the bit for my pin vice broke and I am currently money-less :). May take longer for pics then expected. StratoKhan
That's a shame, if it was a GW one I suggest buying one elsewhere, the quality can range from worse to equal, but the price is quite high.
