Anabis_Xero
some assualt guys and my marshall. im open to critisism both good and bad. also dose anyone have any shadding advice for the black armor? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/Anabis_Xero/Warhammer/Picture005.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/Anabis_Xero/Warhammer/Picture004.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/Anabis_Xero/Warhammer/Picture011.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/Anabis_Xero/Warhammer/Picture007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/Anabis_Xero/Warhammer/Picture010.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/Anabis_Xero/Warhammer/Picture009.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/Anabis_Xero/Warhammer/Picture008.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89492-my-first-black-templar-models/ Share on other sites
Khrangar
Raven Templars! Not bad, it's interesting to see so man beakies on non-raven guard models. I think the metals could do with an inking though, black for the silver and brown/flesh for the gold. lothlorienmoon
It all looks like a great foundation to start from. You've got nice, clean colors and they all look relatively thin, no blobs/drips that I can see. Just work on highlighting (black is tricky to highlight, same for red) and adding depth. Inks are a good place to start. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89492-my-first-black-templar-models/#findComment-1029296 Share on other sites
Chronos
They look good. But I have to point this out. The commander's banner...a red background, with a black emblem in a white square..... http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c178/Chronos1023/swastika.gif Sorry if that offends anybody. I do not believe or stand for anything like that. But, I just felt obliged to alert everyone's atention to that. But seriously...the models are looking good. Just need something to break up all of the monotone colors, some highlighting and shading would make them look awesome. Daeothar
Very good basis; keep up the good work ;) As for the colourscheme; it's not offensive in any way. If anything, it's reminiscent of John Blanche's work... I would like to suggest a slight repose of the Stormshield on your Marshal though. It should be parallel to his arm, not perpendicular to it; it looks a bit awkward like this right now. he's just holding it in his hand, while a shield would be most effective strapped to the arm. Other than that, take some highlighting to them as mentioned and you're set. Keep it up! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89492-my-first-black-templar-models/#findComment-1029336 Share on other sites
Penitent Dreadnought
Seconded, it's a red flag with a black and white symbol. Nothing more (though Anabis Xero's Marines would probably give life and limb to retrieve it if lost). I would like to suggest a slight repose of the Stormshield on your Marshal though. It should be parallel to his arm, not perpendicular to it; it looks a bit awkward like this right now. he's just holding it in his hand, while a shield would be most effective strapped to the arm. Not if he wants to punch someone in the face with it, eh? Daeothar
Not if he wants to punch someone in the face with it, eh? True, but it just looks too 'International Karate III' to me (that's one very old computer game, for those not in the know...) *blong*, *blong* ;) What's wrong with backhanding somebody with a shield anyway :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89492-my-first-black-templar-models/#findComment-1029416 Share on other sites
Penitent Dreadnought
I guess it all depends on how little the Marine cares for the adversary, that he's not really going to bother getting his sword dirty... On closer inspection of the shield, I don't like the use of the vehicle-mount grips. The shield is made from an old Rhino door, there ought to be handle gubbins lying around too, methinks. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89492-my-first-black-templar-models/#findComment-1029428 Share on other sites
FatMan
Not if he wants to punch someone in the face with it, eh? What's wrong with backhanding somebody with a shield anyway  Why not just go right ahead and Bitch-Slap him then, I think that would be a very Space Marine thing to do, don't you? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89492-my-first-black-templar-models/#findComment-1029435 Share on other sites
FatMan
Actually what I dont quite get is why he has a shield instead of blowing basketball sized holes in people with a Bolter. Whats he thinking? Example- "No bretheren, today we will not deliver wrath upon the Emperors enemys with the cleansing shell of a Bolter but rather with a mighty shield that we The Adeptus Astrates will deliver with a cunning blow to their nuts." :P Laters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89492-my-first-black-templar-models/#findComment-1029449 Share on other sites
Penitent Dreadnought
we the Adeptus Astrates will deliver with a cunning blow to their nuts." That does seem so much more dastardly and menacing than simply killing them outright with a bolt. Bolter Witch
I like the shield. One handle in the middle of a large rectangular shield was how the Roman Legions did it for several centuries. Looks good. Maybe try adding a white Templar cross in the middle of the shield face? Looks like a good start, though. Check my sig for a group you might be interested in.
