Dracul
Hi, I'm wondering how to shade my UMs (the armor parts I mean). I guess the most obvious choice would be blue ink but, since I don't have blue ink, I was wondering if anyone knew another way that would give nice results. Thanks! Dracul. Khrangar
What about just adding some black to UM blue and watering it down a fair bit. If you have regal blue or a darker shade of blue, water that down extensively and use it as you would an ink. Artimis Vergadin
No black isn't a good color. Try dark angels green. Or possibly if your feeling well a dark red. Artimis Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89555-how-to-shade-ultramarine-blue/#findComment-1030047 Share on other sites
Ragnar
You can make your own ink by mixing a little matte medium and water with paint. Regal Blue and Midnight Blue are both good choices for making an ind to shadow Ultramarines Blue. Black mixed with blue comes out purplish. Obliterator
Basecoat Regal Blue Layer/blend up to Ultramarines Blue Highlight by adding Space Wolves Grey to the Ultramarines Blue This is pretty much the only non-xeno example I've got. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/Obliterator/Imperial%20Fists/DSC00635.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89555-how-to-shade-ultramarine-blue/#findComment-1030127 Share on other sites
Tubal
Inks work best for me when shading but blue ink is too light and black is too dark :( Personally I'd mix black ink with UM blue and thin it as needed.
