Imperial architecture = war machines?

A little idea for discussion:

I have thought about using the necromunda bulkheads as a neat way of making gothic style panneling on war machines, but with the new CoD kits the options are much, much improved.

My idea was to build a Thunderhawk and/or Capitol Imperialis using styrofoam or similar for the basic shape, and then make some nicely detailed sides with the new plastic sprues. I think the CI in particular would look awesome built like this.

What do you think? Oh, and please feel free to steal my idea as I have small hopes for ever seeing such a project through, what with the missus and our two small boys taking up 90% of my time...

I think its a great idea.

I know i had a few random ideas come into my head in the last mission of DoW: WA and thinking that the CoD pieces would be nice to make a titan. Given the way the CoD pieces are made, you may not even need to make the shape from other materials but put together the CoD bits as per normal, although i suspect it would be a very big undertaking (and depends how true to scale you wish the Thunderhawk to be).

I like the idea but i can't see the CoD peices working on any marine vehicles or titans attached to marine armies. All the marine vehicles, flyers and the titans are a lot plainer and more streamlined for war.

They'd work well on guard super heavies though.

Or Ad Mech vehicles and Titans.

I know that no one has their own Titans, they're all owned and controlled by the Adeptus Titanicus. But if you see any titans atached to marine armies they're painted in the chapters colour scheme. Just look at the Forge World Warhound titan as an example.

Actually, from what I've read each Legio has their own colour scheme and heraldry. For example:

The Legio Victorum's Titans have dark blue coloured armour, lined with a rich gold. Armour plating on the extremities of weapons is typically of a bright yellow, though the more ancient Titans may use bronze instead. Kill markings are usually displayed as stars on banners slung between a Titan's legs. The oldest Titans constructed on Mars have silver metals beneath their armour plating, whilst those built on Galatia are far duller, due to the different minerals present on the two Forge Worlds.

I think it's just that people normally paint titans in schemes that look good with their armies.

I dunno but I was thinking of like a doomsday machine(hah arch enemy album name) like a giant ork stompa but an imperial version, like a titan crossed with a defiler crossed with a tank and imperialised

I dunno might be cool if you understand what I mean

if you have seen the cruisier thing from gamesday or the gt or soemthing, sorta like that

We don't talk about such things here ;)

As for that building with tracks, looks like a flashier version of the Capitol Imperialis. This was a behemoth (armed with a Behemoth cannon funnily enough) used by Marines and other Imperial forces as a mobile, capable of transporting 3 companies under the void shields, including 3 companies of Super heavy tanks (i.e. 9 vehicles)
