Castle
So I'm painting a few axes of Khorne. I wanted to paint demonic faces on them and I was wondering if anyone knew how. You can see some at the back of the Chaos dex on a jugger (just be carefull, they're really scary). Castle
Black paint does go along way. So does reading. I didn't ask for the colour I asked for technique. Thanks for being rude. Alphz
I think thats pretty much just really good free hand. And as such the best method is sketching what you want then painting it very carefully with a thin brush (brace your hands!) your base colour, highlighting a couple of times to make it pop... Boltman touches upon somewhere, might be his magmatrix tutorial (google it, as i lost the link) but the key is sketching what you want first, either on paper or directly on the model. In this case just looking at it id rekon the painter starting basically with black then freehanded some faces on, it would have taken alot of patience. hope that helps even vaguely Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89630-painting-scary-faces/#findComment-1030929 Share on other sites
lhg033
while not being a face on an axe Boltmans Magmatrax has a really great looking free hand skull painted on the back of its powerfist - you may want to look at his method for painting this and adapt it to use for faces etc. if not hae a look at the model anyway its awesome! linkage Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89630-painting-scary-faces/#findComment-1030968 Share on other sites

Thanks for being rude.Practice replicating what you want to paint. If I say paint a little line there and one ehre won't help you much. What do you expect? People telling you where to put what line and where to put your highlights. The black paint idea was a good hint. Apply your basecoat and then take a colour to fix the proportions of the scary faces. Then start rendering the face. And you are finsihed. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89630-painting-scary-faces/#findComment-1031202 Share on other sites
