Chaptermaster Graymantle
Ok, so I got the Cities of Death Codex a few days back and I loved the idea of Strategems and how they bring a new level of interaction and "realism" to the game; so I've finally had the time to write down some of the ideas I've had for Cityfight Strategem Marker "Conversions" for Marines. I've tried to think about how Marines may use their equimpent for Rapid, supprise attacks and have tried to shape the ideas in that direction. I intend to host this list on my website for further referene, and maybe it could get stickied as well. I hope to see some of these ideas used, and also for people to voice their opinions on them and hopefully I will see some more ideas you may have. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CITYFIGHT STRATAGEM MARKERS FOR MARINES Key Building Stratagems Ammunition Store 01. Mini Drop pod or boarding Torpedo for rapid ammo deployment. 02. Rhino Transported Ammo (with servitors). 03. Ammo stores on the ground with servitors. 04. On the ground Teleporter unit for boarding actions and difficult supply areas. Command Centre 01. Space Ship Command Centre. 02. Portable set up. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Well I read through my list again and saw that I had forgotten one thing: Under Barricades one could also add number: 04. Containment field generators from Battle for Macragge boxed set or Forgeworld. Dawn of the Dogs
stratagem markers are fun to make ^_^ ive been slowely producing them since i got a look at the CoD book. razor wire: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/ddog2/RIMG0592.jpg booby trap markers disguised as fuel dump and ammo storage: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/ddog2/RIMG0588.jpg more booby trap markers: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/ddog2/RIMG0589.jpg and my favourite booby trap marker, ripper in a box: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/ddog2/RIMG0590.jpg preliminary bombardment: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/ddog2/RIMG0591.jpg just a few of the markers i have that are marine oriented. Chaptermaster Graymantle
OOO ^_^ I love that flamer / promethium bomb thingy :P And the ripper in a box! :D - Although it may not be very Marine like to use xenos as booby traps. Wonderful conversions :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1031226 Share on other sites
-Q-
DoD those are great! Very creative. Nice unique take on Razor Wire too! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1031232 Share on other sites
Bolter Witch
OOO :) I love that flamer / promethium bomb thingy :D And the ripper in a box! :P - Although it may not be very Marine like to use xenos as booby traps. Wonderful conversions :) I don't know.. in the desperation of a hard, prolonged fight in a large urban area, I would think improvization would be the key. Besides, maybe it wasn't the Marines who put it in the box. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Ok, so I've updated the list above with the following: Fortifications 06. Portable Void Shield Generator. - for those times that Marines need to protect a small area from bombardment etc. Other Marine War installations unrelated to Stratagems 06. Castellan minefields. - Lets not forget these little rerouting gems <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1031591 Share on other sites
Feral Haggis
have a look at forgeworld's city fight section Forge World Cities of death what im thinking of doing is for most of the strategems just having a drop pod with the appropriate interior for sacred ground i was going to do a wrecked dreadnought for the fortifications one i quite like the void shield idea same with the servo skulls for the observation point and...thats all ive got so far Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1031597 Share on other sites
Chaptermaster Graymantle
The Forgeworld link was allready linked to above, but thanks for the Dread idea for sacred ground - cant belive I missed that. <_< I will add it to the list above. Brother Adeaus
*grins* Ripper in a box... I can just imagine it... it'd go something like this: Traitor A: Hey!!! A box!!! And a pretty one too.... Traitor B: Hey, don't open that box... Traitor A: Why? Its sooo pretty... its like its asking me to open it. Maybe the Chaos Gods have a blessing in there for me.... Traitor B: Dont be so stupid!!! Oi!!! Come back here!!! Traitor A: Yay!!! Box!!! *opens said box* Ripper: Allo there mate!!! Traitor A: Aiieee!! >Insert gribbly death here< But anyway, back ontopic. I had an idea for the Demolisher stratagem, if given to a Marine squad (dunno if it can, never read the rules), something like huge demo charges the size of manhole covers. Or for a Land Raider maybe a overly powered, close range Las-burner. I'll post a pic if I get it done. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Well, the demolisher stratagem is actually secretly keyed to a ruin and you don't really need a physical representative for it, so whatever is placed out in relation to this stratagem is purely done for visual feel. The explosives will already be placed before the game, so your idea for Marines with manholes could better be represented by the already listed Scouts with a detonator I think, although this could be a Marine to it sounds more like a scouts job to sneak about, place explosives and let em rip :D - I will add the Marine in though. As for the Land Raider it's not suitable for this stratagem I'm afraid. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1033767 Share on other sites
Grey Knight
Well for the fortified building strategum I don't know how well one could represent void fields and such, the little markers seem to b lacking IMO, I was thinking a cardboard castle like thing, but made with steel and having pipes go down into the ground and stuff like that, It's have to be a pretty big project but once i get the city parts most of them are going to go into making this idea a reality Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1033797 Share on other sites
Chaptermaster Graymantle
As void shields go, maybe a sort of small transparent umbrella structure could be used. I'm not sure a castle sort of building fits the fast paced hit and run tactical strikes of Space Marines although it is arguable that they may take and hold a military structure or an abandoned Arbites Court House for example, or they may on a very rare occasion have small monastery keep houses. - These would probably be better used as a key building for the mission itself instead though. Another problem is that the Fortifications Stratagem is keyed to a City Ruin, not a full building, so you would need opponents permission I guess. Still looking forward to seeing that house though - eh... lets call it a monastery keep for PA business, shall we? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1033837 Share on other sites
Chaptermaster Graymantle
Well I have now updated the list with some more possible ideas: (Not sure how well all of these fit though.) Fortifications 07. Caltrops Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1034119 Share on other sites
Dawn of the Dogs
Razor wire: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/ddog2/RIMG0633.jpg simply 2 bits of sprue with some of the "razor wire" from the urban basing kit. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Ok, here are some more possible ideas for you. Not necessarily directly Marine equipment, but still tactical choices that may be employed by Marines. I've updated the list above. Razor Wire 03. Fire Walls 04. Smoke Screens Tank Traps 02. Thunderhawk Dropped Hedgehogs 03. Servitor assembled "Cheval de frise" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1035213 Share on other sites
Aquilla
There are some great booby traps in the rulebook. I've made some based on tripwires hooked to the pins on grenades tied to promethium tanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89639-ideas-on-cityfight-strategem-markers-for-marines/#findComment-1035344 Share on other sites
khornedog
you can also make good looking barbed wire by getting mesh and cutting off single strings of it off like such then get two strands and twist them together, to make a string, it looks very effective and is dead cheap. you can see it on this base and not as well on this one i use some sort of plasticy mesh, which doesn't make coils very well, but wire mesh would be ideal for it. hope i helped someone. khornedog
Glad to be of service ^_^ but again, metal mesh is the best for this, cause you can coil it.
