madscuzzy
Here is something I've been working on recently. It was inspired somewhat by Barph's Viper, well at least the elongated one was but was mostly based off the FW version... (or what I thought the FW one looked like. When I actually did referencing I had already started work on this so it took a life of its own... ^_^ ) I swapped the missile pods to the side of the cockpit simply cuz I found I couldn't fit it nicely on the sides. Yes... I didn't plan it too much. Was designing it as I was going along. As I elongated the front, I decided to lengthen the back to keep some 'balance'. It's a speeder, not a dragster. Anyhoo enough rambling... http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/f.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/f1.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/l1.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/l2.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/l3.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/r.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/b.jpg I did do a version with a 3rd engine which I added a supercharger/intake too... not sure if it does anything for the model though. I find the back looks nice, but it loses its sleek look... <_< http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/b-turbo.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/l3-turbo.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/r-turbo.jpg And here is a size comparison http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/compare1.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/compare2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/ Share on other sites
no-use4a-name
WOW! That looks really great. Did you take any "in progress" picts.? I don't know why but, I thought of Battle Star Galactica when I saw it. Anyway, like I said, great work! Legacy40k
I don't know why but, I thought of Battle Star Galactica when I saw it. Anyway, like I said, great work! So did I.. I think its because of the long nose, the egine design and the overall length compared to width. -Legacy40k Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1031664 Share on other sites
Barpharanges
Thats really nifty, Scuz. The elongated front you scratch built looks worthy of the Tempests armour 11 front, and will look great once painted. I was hoping that the leading edges of the wings were chainsaws, as it looks that way in some of the pics! BZZZZZZZT! Great Work! rabblerouser
I think you did a better job elongating the nose than the back. The back end just doesn't look right IMHO Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1031677 Share on other sites
Herald_of_Nurgle
All I can say madscuzzy is that it looks schexy <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1031686 Share on other sites
madscuzzy
No WIP pics other than this... Didn't look like anything intelligable so I decided to not put those in. Most of the work was on the front end yes. The back was a simple fit, since I've actually always loved the speeder back. i just extended the back turbines to make them longer, but thats about it. The 'extra armour' on the back was just an old speeder I had cut up for parts a looong time ago. The wings were made larger. The rough edge of the wing is due to the parts that I used before as base... some line details... just decided to leave them as they are. T14
Bravo <_< It is still a Dragster, but it is VERY well done. What is the turn radius on that thing, I wonder? Cheers -t14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1031705 Share on other sites
alroachy
WOW! Take your sweet time painting that model. It's worth it. Can't wait to see it painted. Well done. Well done. -Q-
I've had 3/4 of a Tornado/Tempest in a box for over a year that's similar to this. Never high enough priority to finish. I'm a fan of your work in general of course. This Speeder is just great. You did a wonderful job of capturing the unique character of the Tempest while bringing your own spin to it. Expertly done, appropriately badass!! Makes the normal Speeder look silly :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1031732 Share on other sites
Obliterator
Cool! A Land Speeder limo! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1031880 Share on other sites
Luku
Now if Speeders looked like that...I'd actually use them! Nice job there... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1031882 Share on other sites
madscuzzy
Thanx! IMHO... this tempest might look a bit too... much... esp when in comparison to the speeders. I do wonder about the dimensions of the actual FW variant. Anyone with one who can gimme some measurements? The Scuzzius pattern might be a tad big haha. I do like the normal speeders. This one looks more like a heavy flyer (I'd er class the tempest as more of a med flyer/fighter), with the speeder as the volkwagon version. Sadly other than the 2 weapon systems, options on the tempest are nil, so I can't really add anymore bling other than asthetics to it. It's being painted... will post pics later. ZAChos
Madscuzzy models: better than the original...x10 Really like it. And keep the third engine, when have marines ever cared about sleek? ArbitesAugmented
I think its the engines that make you think about the battle star galactica theme, but I like the added length and the entire conversion! good work! :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1032253 Share on other sites
madscuzzy
As mentioned... the long front was inspired very much by Barph's Col. Viper Tempest (;) that model Front Back Bottom) It's... erm different. Simpler but still a whole lot effective. Mines just an amalgam of that + the FW one... I hope. Anyhoo heres more updates. The pics came out... mmm... more intense than I thought. I can barely see the highlights. They are just popping out here. Oh well. The finish of the model wasn't really up to par, leaving a lot of tiny dents which I didn't smooth out properly in the more WIP stages. Lucky for me, I managed to use them as paint chip/dents... which is prevalent in my army so it came out pretty good. :) The 3rd engine's magnetized so I can pop it on or off whenever I want to switch to my ferrari mode... :D http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/l-col.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/r-col.jpg http://www.scuzworks.com/SL40K/WIP/Tempest/b-col.jpg I still have the engines, the red, the rust, another highlight on the black, air streaks and mud heh... might take a while those... :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89687-tempest-wip/#findComment-1032414 Share on other sites

T14
Bloody Brilliant, mate  the 3rd jet could use a dab of black ink in the deepest recesses of the turbine, IMHO. Wizz
Absolutely KICK-ASS job there mate!
