Nostromo
Over the last weeks i tried out what i could do with foam, cardboard and plasticcard. The result were 3 drop pods and a slightly boosted annihilator. Although the pods look the same, the materials differ. The one's hull is made entirely of plasticcard, one hull is made of cardboard and one is a combination of both. The painting is quite poor and i will add some chapter and squad marks. http://home.arcor.de/ravengrove/grafik/warhammer/drop-pods2.jpg The pods have already proven to be very effective. The predator is nearly completely scratch built - you can clearly see that the sponsons, the lascans in the turret and the hatches come from GW. The other parts are again foam, cardboard and plasticcard. Again, the paintjob is far from good - but on the photos it appears even worse and much brighter than it really is. Chapter and tactical markings will be added as well. And YES, i'm aware of the fact that it has more guns than allowed. I wanted it to look more like a main battle tank. http://home.arcor.de/ravengrove/grafik/warhammer/tank/predator1.jpg http://home.arcor.de/ravengrove/grafik/warhammer/tank/predator3.jpg http://home.arcor.de/ravengrove/grafik/warhammer/tank/predator4.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89708-some-wip-scratchbuilt-vehicles/ Share on other sites
zbo
Very nice, The drop pods are great. They look really well made. I love the predator, looks like it wants to hurt somthing! I think that the twin-lascannons is cool, although no in game benifit ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89708-some-wip-scratchbuilt-vehicles/#findComment-1031936 Share on other sites
Nostromo
I thought about using the VDR for a annihilator with 3 TLLKs, but he will be fielded as a standard annihilator most of the time. Ravenheart
Some really good craftmanship here. The podts are very good. I don't know about the predator though. In the time I would need to build one out of plasticard I'd probably earn enough cash to buy one or two plastic kits. Nostromo
saving on money is only a little part of the job. The other - and by far greater - part is the fun of building it and to see how close to the original it comes out in the end. If i build more tanks, i will make them more distinguishable from standard GW. 'Just a proof of concept for me. Maybe the next project will be a crusader.
