Primer22
Well, a while back I got a set of 12 space marines off of ebay for cheap thinking i got a great deal. Turns out, after soaking them in brake fluid, they were a set of the horribly sculpted RTB01 marines just with enough layers of paint, somewhere around 8 and all different colors, on them that they looked normal. After realizing I would have to do extensive GS work to make them into proper marines I shelved them and forgot about them for 6 months. Now as i pack to move to California I have rediscovered them and decided to convert 7 of them to possessed with talons before i leave on the 27th, needed a break from my defiler anyways. So with the explination out of the way here are my WIP pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/HiegthComparison.jpg Here is a hiegth comparison of one of my WIP that has had his legs chopped apart and repositioned and one that is still in the awful squatting position. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/WIPPossessed2.jpg here is the second marine to have gotten GS work and a leg repositioning. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/testClawsandTalons.jpg here is a group of 4 test arms for the talons. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/WIPPossessed.jpg here is a group pic of the entire squad I will be useing the newer chaos backpacks on all of them and newer heads on some, I'm a sucker for the beaky helmets. All C&C welcome and any advice/recommendation are appreciated. Freebooter
they look sweet. I really like the fist/claw you've GS'd. I have never liked the beaky helmets and have never used them in an army. So i've got like 20 of these heads just lieing arround. Cause i play wolves i've always had heads to take the place. -Q-
Good work. Great powerfist. It's a shame to see these rare models get the Nurgle GS slather though. ...and squatting is appropriately Nurgley  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89761-possessed-of-nurgle-from-old-marines/#findComment-1032616 Share on other sites
death given form
Those are some awesome models. Normally not one much for nurgle, but those... those are cool!!! Primer22
Thanks for the comments so far and you can check out some of my other stuff Here if you feel so inclined. @-Q- It would be a shame if most of the models didnt have melted spots from bad glue when they were originally put together. Three of the original 12 are in good shape though and probably wont be conversion fodder for my Death Guard army. T14
they were a set of the horribly sculpted RTB01 marines RTB01 marines, while nifty as a historical curiosity, are indeed scrawny, anorexic imitations of Space Marines IMHO. Their torsos make for nifty scout conversions when combined with Cadian limbs, but I find that your use for them is great. Behold the RTB01 Armatures Of Nurge  I love your GS work. Superb details  -t14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89761-possessed-of-nurgle-from-old-marines/#findComment-1032897 Share on other sites
Daeothar
B) Heresy! You fiend... :tu: RTB01 marines, while nifty as a historical curiosity, are indeed scrawny, anorexic imitations of Space Marines IMHO You poor misguided fool; RTB01's ARE the original marines and the new plastics are bloated overgrown imitations of THEM! ;) Just kidding, but it pains my heart to see those good old Beakies being cut up. Yes, I'm a sentimental old b*stard but I still love them. On the other hand though, you're doing a great job with them and they will get to fight again after all. be it with a sniffle... I love your work on the arms best; can't wait to see some painted shots of them, in all their sickening g(l)ory... rabblerouser
It hurts me to see these classic figures butchered in such a way. Nice conversions.. but damn it those are classic! Squiggoth
It hurts me to see these classic figures butchered in such a way. Nice conversions.. but damn it those are classic! Nothing is more fun than taking a horrible old sculpt and turning it into a snazzy new eye-catching model with some hacking, sawing and sculpting. Yay Primer22, for making these silly Womble Beakies look fit for gaming in the 21st millenium. Nice stuff so far, and the two claw-like claws look brilliant. The single horn-shaped hand and the sword-stump don't quite do it for me yet (but I'll patiently wait until I see them attached to a Beakie before I pass my final verdict :) ). Primer22
Agian thanks for all the comments from everyone. To those that like these older models, at least 2-3 of them will be set aside and painted in Space marine colors but I havnt decided what chapter yet. Anyways work on them continues and i hope to have more pics up tonight. Primer22
I hate double posting but here are some new pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/ClawsandTalons1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedC.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedA.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedB.jpg The one on the left is ready for the armour and will have intestines comeing out of the wound. The other 2 i am still undecided on what arms to use but will probably have them finished and primed by tommarow.Well that is all i have for the moments but I have 2 more that are about ready to go together as soon as I reposition thier legs. More pic soon and as a reference here are 2 pics of one i am not converting: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/RTB01Bionic.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/RTB01BionicSide.jpg I am takeing suggestions about what chapters colors he will be and as always C&C welcome. The Angelus Sanctus
Thats some very nice GS work there, well done  Looks as good as the current Nurgle minis and when the talons are finished will look like very suitable possessed (un like the new possessed models that i swear GW was possessed at the time when they were made). firestorm40k
Another batch of outstanding Death Guard conversions :) which once again beat the current GW models in to the middle of next week! Very nice work allround - well done! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89761-possessed-of-nurgle-from-old-marines/#findComment-1035366 Share on other sites
ArbitesAugmented
Those poor space marines, they just want to be loved and play the games they used to do :) Quick everybody, get as many as you can from ebay and save them from a grisly nurgle death!!!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89761-possessed-of-nurgle-from-old-marines/#findComment-1035420 Share on other sites
T14
Your conversions are turning out great. I have some of those measly things. Old marines (even the 1990s metal ones) are TINY compared to the newer plastic sprue marines. As I said above the wee lads make for good scouts when converted a bit... Before I realized their conversion potential I had thrown about 30 or so in the dumpster out of sheer frustration about their midget-ness. ;) Cheers -t14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89761-possessed-of-nurgle-from-old-marines/#findComment-1035641 Share on other sites
Primer22
Guess what, its update time agian as work drags along on my possessed. Well anyways here are some updated pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedC1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedAFin.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedB1.jpg The first is ready for arms, the second is finished but needs cleanup still, and the third I cant decide what to do for the other arm(suggestions wanted). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedD.jpg Here is the one getting the most attention ATM, the pose looks weird here but that is because of the thin greaves. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedBits.jpg Here is the second arm to go with the fist one i did before and another WIP body, 2 tubes will be coming from the face plate. As always C&C welcome and thanks for looking. Primer22
Well, i have finished a second marine and figured he deserved a post of his own since he has the arm that was most liked by everyone. Here he is in his all GSed glory: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/Primer21/WIP%20death%20guard/PossesedCFin.jpg Anyways, for those who are keeping an eye on my progress, I have decided to reposition the head on the one i was having trouble with. This will allow me to put on the new arm i have been woking on, it is holding a sharpening stone and has an axe head sticking out his elbow. The pose will be of him looking down a bit on him sharpening the blade of the other arm. Tommarow i will have the other 2 that are almost finished done with pics and hopefully have pics of the 5th and 6th up, running out of ideas for the arms though ^_^ . C&C welcome as always.
