BT neophyte WIP and an Emp champ WIP

I went down to my local store in need of scouts to convert into neophytes. Deem of my surprise when they only had one box in store and the next delivery was due in three weeks. I can't wait three weeks i said, didn't purchase anything and went home and picked out the bits box.

This is the early result. I'd say it works, what do you think?

I also got this guy done yesterday. Big thanks to Bloodsbane for making the GS work.

The EC from what i can tell looks great, well done

As for the Neophyte, id definitely recommend taking the backpack off as it makes it look a tad bit top heavy and i think you'll be set. Nice use of the Cadian bare heads (vs the new scout ones).

I agree with Angelus that the backpack needs to be changed. If you want a backpack on them, I've thought about attempting to try the following:

Take a normal SM backback and cut of the vents. You now have a streamlined backpack

Turn the backpack upside down.

Place it on the marines back.

The only problem is that is hands a little too low, but there is a second hole (although smaller) lower down the pack. If you make this larger to fit onto the pin, it should look good on the scouts.

Although i have no idea how practical this idea would be, although it is a continuation of Ferrata's idea:

Do what Ferrata suggested, but IF you intend to use the SM PA torso, file down the back section so you dont have the 'connection' for the back pack and then glue it into place. No idea if it would work, but it will decrease some of the 'back mass' slightly.

Yeah, the backpack is iffing me too even if it is smaller than regular. I couldn't remember if scouts had backpacks or not and was too lazy to do a 30 second search on the net. I'll probably cut that one away and make the rest without packs (or some alot smaller rucksack things instead)
I agree with everyone about the scouts, a loss of backpack would be a good idea, and i have one tiny criticism of the EC... I couldnt help but notice that the BT cross on the sword was a bit odd. If you look, i'd have thought you'd have rotated it another 90 degrees clockwise. That minor issue aside good stuff and great use of resources.

The Scout is yeah, a bit too top-heavy with the backpack. Really nice look though, especially just from random bitz. Of course, you'll have to hold out and buy the new ones (online?) or make ALL your scouts like that one.

The EC looks nice, just needs to be cleaned up a bit . He looks like he's leaning forward way too much though, like he's about to fall over. Put him back farther on the base or use normal legs. If you decide to use the assault legs though, his left foot is at a really bizarre angle and needs to be fixed. Also, straighten out the Templar cross on the sword.

Really nice though.

No problems about making more scouts. Got plenty of those bits in my bit boxes after building 3000 pts IG and SM chests shouldn't be a problem either :)

The EC does seem to topple over, doesn't he? That's what i said too when he was made. I'll see if i can't correct that.
