The Angelus Sanctus
From the side view they look ok, but from the front, the shoulder pads look a tad bit small? Perhaps removing the LC part and then attaching it to the new pads and upper arm sections. Otherwise, it looks good :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89858-castellan-avalon/#findComment-1033641 Share on other sites
Callas
Agreed - remount the claws on the contempory arms and shoulders and it'll look even better. I too detest the new 'Claws'; Lightning Claws should look like Lightning Claws, not Electrified-Punch-Daggers. c02
how on earth can anyone compare the sexy new lightning claws with the old ill stab my own sides claws? sorry id use the new claws personnally but doesnt look too bad is that a holy orb of antioch on his head? wouldnt like that to fall off the base looks awsome though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89858-castellan-avalon/#findComment-1033762 Share on other sites
Grey Knight
Just remember to throw the grenade on three. One, two, five" no three sir" awe right, three it is*BOOM* gotta love monty python :D looks good from the sides but the loincloth just doesn't look right, it just detracts from the mini, it's a bit too big, other than that it's pretty good. Brother Djibril
Good to see someone still using the old style lightning claws. I was so sad when they put out the new terminators with those hideous lightning claws. But, like the others said, the shoulder pads do look a tad small. You could beef the metal shoulders up with plasticard or try to remount them on the plastic shoulders. Master Chaplain Astador
Lucky you were lucky!! When I said a room, I ment a hallway with a whole in the middle! lol montey python, ahh good times. Looks good, but I second that the new lighting claws would look better. The Angelus Sanctus
Just an extra idea, although its semi based in general look. Excluding the idea of the Lightning Claws (man i still love the old ones vs the new 'knuckle busters') you could remove the small targeter thats on top of the armor as well since the model is geared for HtH (i assume the target helps for ranged weapons, although i guess in saying that they would also act as a sensor array of sorts). Alas, it is up to you on that idea, the model will look good with or without it. Ardus
Nice work, I like the old claw much better. The placement of the shoulders is good (he doesn't look like a hunch back); however, the shoulder guards need to beefed up with rims and adornments. Ardus. -Q-
I don't understand the grenade on his head? Maybe make some sort of shrine sort of thing to hold it? Or chains coming off to 3 or 4 points around the top of his armor to keep it in place. The old claws look fine. I'm in the "the new ones are goofy" camp. Brother apocalyptic
that is a nice pose, but as some has said, bulk out the shoulderpad. But IMHO, the holy orb looks way misplaced up there, perhaps replace it! also, I believe that the head is cut in the back, right? chaplain mortis
hey all cheers for the replies.. i think i will add some platicard to the shoulder pads to bulk it out as you have all mentioned :) ..prob make some shrapnel guards...should do the trick the head is being replaced...just chucked that one in there so it didnt look to odd when your viewing the pics. as for the "holy orb"...well nothing anywhere actually says its the "holy orb of antioch" to me its just decoration.. but i can see how funny it would look as a grenade stuck above his head ;) .. so might just replace that :) nice to see a debate on the merits of new/old lightning claws Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89858-castellan-avalon/#findComment-1034136 Share on other sites
StratoKhan
Nice, the plasticard should do the trick and make the pads look the right size. May I ask what head you are planning on using from the Knightly Order sprue? Nice LC's, old ones were so much cooler. magnum_opera
Looks good. Clean up the claws and either bulk out the shoulders with plasticard or consider using the new Terminator shoulder pads with the old lightning claws. I'd take off the Holy Orb of Antioch - just looks too goofy. Maybe use a generic Aquila or a Templar cross or something instead. The little script/unrolled scroll/thing on the side of his arm just looks out of place, consider removing that. Do you plan on using the Empire knight head with the laurels? That should look pretty cool, although the current head looks good too.
