Looking for a really MATTE black.

Recommended Posts

I am planning to repaint my black dragons (most of them are crappily painted when I was still new), and rather than GW's slighly-shiny black, I though it would be cool if it was a real flat/matte black, or would that screw too much with the figures considering the scale and all?

I know Tamiya has some really flat blacks.

I've had the same problem for a long time, and thus far I have not been able to find a solution. Let me know if you find one.

Though you could try Tamiya. I think I forgot to try the Tamiya matte paint I bought. And I'm not going to paint anything matte black in a while.

Good luck.

EDIT: One thing though. From my experience dullcoats and/or Matte mediums will NOT work! They can't reproduce the nice looking colour of the oil paints (only without the shine).
