Inquisitor Belatu Cadros WIP

Recommended Posts

I realy like the model, but I wanted something different then the traditional reds/browns color scheme. I tried green and bone, but I wasn't entirely satisfied at first. It missed something. Then it hit me: I was going to make this guy Irish/celtic. I browsed the web for some celtic knotwork, and this is the result:

I even found a little celtic knotwork raven to tie him in with my Sisters  . Mind you, the bone from the inside of his coat is WIP, shading and highlights still need to be applied.

So, tell me what you think. Ideas? Crits? Suggestions?

WOW!!!

i love the model, and i also love what youve done with it.

another nice one is the Conflict Toronto Sept. 06' open category "medalist" (cant remember the place)

i'll see if i can find a link.

other than those all of the ones ive seen have been classic paint schemes

its good, but I'm pretty sure you made a mistake with his cloak. I don't have my model handy but as I recall..

the back of his cloak has a slit cut up the middle of it allowing the 2 halves to flow independantly. in the bottom picture.. the part of the cloak to the right which curves around the model.. the interior is the part that is exposed, the exterior is actually wrapped around to the inside and is barely visible.

So you painted half the outside like the outside, and half the inside like the inside.. (if that makes any sense, if not, I'll draw a picture)

I did have to study the cloak to see what was inside and outside, damn hard to tell sometimes. I did notice that the cloak had two different 'flaps', but I imagined that it folded so only the outside would show, a bit like when you fold a piece of paper lengthwise. But I see what you mean  .

Its a pretty common mistake with that model (commander Y did it as well), you expect it to be the outside colours because it is on the back.. but its inside out..

Nice job, Oblit  !!!

The knotwork just makes the model complete. Even if it is a WIP

Any idea of the other colors you'll be using on him? I think a bit of red and purple could liven up the model a bit. But obviuosly not too much.

Master_Aerethos

How, pray tell, did you get that nice muted green?

Depends what green you're after:

The dark green of the coat: Start Chaos Black, and add more and more Dark Angels Green for highlighting. Final highlights also have Goblin Green mixed in.

The green of the tunic: basecoat Dark Angels Green, and add Goblin Green for highlights. Highlight up to pure Goblin Green, and add a bit of Bleached Bone for the brightest highlights.

I haven't decided on the rest of the colors, but the palette will mainly stay greens, bone, black and reddish browns. The hat and boots will remain black, the hair will be grey, the inferno pistol will get a nice reddish wood finish, and there will be some more metal to pick out details (like the belt buckle). Maybe I'll add in a dab of red and orange here or there (purity seal and power cables come to mind), but I'll try to steer clear of purple. I'm keeping that color for my assassins!

Just finished the base :) . I wanted a base to blend in with the rest of my Witchhunters army (woodland), but I also wanted to have it look like he was entering some long lost sanctum, so I decided to model some worn and overgrown steps, like a way down to an ancient temple where a heretic ritual is in its final steps...

The stairs are made from plasticard, with the stones scored in with an X-acto knife. The sides were filled with ready-mix filler, and then everything was painted. The plants are brass.

And here's a bright pic of the good chap positioned on the base:

As you can see, progress on the Inquisitor himself is rather slow  ...

How did you do the little pieces of brush at the sides??

I ordered some brass plants from Hasslefree, slapped some paint on 'em and glued them to the base :P .

How hard was it to score the plasticard with the 'cracks' ?

Pretty easy actually, as you only need to score them. I made two inscissions for each v-shaped groove. They don't need to be too deep, as the paintjob picks them out real fast.

Oh, and I'm definately digging the purple assassins! [oliver_twist]Please sir, I'd like some more.[/oliver_twist]

In due time, guv'na, in due time...
