Kraigen
New Pictures! I finally got it put back together after bringing the support down in the middle. I'm still trying to come up with some decoration ideas--maybe I will add some access panels on the fins--I'm sure there is plenty of machinery to get to. I might even leave them exposed. Obviously I still have to recut the roof pieces after changing where it will intersect. I left space for some kind of nozzle at the intersection of the supports on top, but I am still working on that too. http://www.visiondancer.com/minis/droppodwip2.jpg And now for a peek at the interior detail! http://www.visiondancer.com/minis/droppodwip3.jpg As for the physics debate... I do envision the bottom ring (the base) being a giant anti-grav device, that keeps gravity "downwards" in the pod and also serves to slow the pod--it resists the planetary gravity more the closer it gets or as it warms up on entry. And yes, I do think it would reach a terminal velocity as it falls where it and a brick would be falling at the same rate. I have no idea what happens when you throw a rocket on the drop pod to shoot it down even faster. Ultimately as aretziel said, it's a game. :D I have not chosen to represent every last detail on the pod, just enough to make it look right. (So I appreciate the help on getting it to look right!) I had thought about turning the base's arches into exhaust nozzels, but I ruled that out, I think it was due to a casting consideration (Before you ask, I don't know if casting them for other people will be feasible yet, I will have to see how much expensive resin it takes to get a cast first). Thanks for the feedback! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90084-kraigens-drop-pod-wip/page/2/#findComment-1037906 Share on other sites

Scipio
I haven't read the whole thread but I think you've made a very nice take on a drop pod. Well done! VermGhost
Is there a pattern that we could purchase from you for download or mail? I find this pattern very attractive! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90084-kraigens-drop-pod-wip/page/2/#findComment-1038143 Share on other sites
Kraigen
Is there a pattern that we could purchase from you for download or mail? I find this pattern very attractive! :P When I get the pod finalized, I would like to offer some help for others to make it. Whether its a kit, plans or some combination of the two, I would like to get something out there. It depends on the time I have and the costs involved. I'm hoping to make a lot of progress this weekend, but it's starting to fill up a bit. I recreated the roof pieces today and ran out of super glue. Bummer. AlteriusMotive
it needs to be pimped up a tad, ie. more chapter heraldry what ever you play. Maybe some scrolls and a centre pillar on each side betwwen the arches would look nice. otherwise exellent design, is the doors movable???? it'd be wicked if it slides up like in the photo. Add a top plate to the compartment and tou have something which could easily represnt something like a mole or termite...just add "teeth" to the fins to represent cutting teeth :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90084-kraigens-drop-pod-wip/page/2/#findComment-1038222 Share on other sites
