kraegus
hey guys, I'm working on a heraldic coat of arms for the Angels of The Lion, (if you have no idea what chapter that is PM ==Me== or Sandalphon) I've been doodling around with this thing for a while, and I figured, what the heck, might as well get some opinions on it. It'll eventually wind up on the back of a cloak of some random sgt. joe as freehand, (hopefully, although i'd only try to make it as complex as this will be if it's a golden demon entry) here we go: the shield (first effort) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v42/kraegus/e89f4036.jpg after this i felt some colour tweaking was necessary. I also added in a pattern to the beige. This is a screenshot of what it looks like right now: (unfinished helmet and sword roughdrafts are in blue of course) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v42/kraegus/c584ec3b.jpg that's it for now, I'll see if I can post more on the weekend sidenote: [i have no idea if anybody remembers any of my unfinished "projects" like the chaos termi, but in the slim chance you do and wish to know what's happening, they're being worked on, however I won't post until there's significant progress.] -kraegus Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90168-coat-of-arms-in-the-making/ Share on other sites
Orkdung
Make the helmet more marine-ish. Maybe a Mk I. From 20K. Or an early model from your founding? kraegus
hmm, good point, however I'd like to keep the helmet being used, It'll be 40k'ed up a bit with trailing wires and gears and stuff. I have a very specific plan laid out for the helmet, and I don't think I'll be changing it *too* much, thanks for the idea though :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90168-coat-of-arms-in-the-making/#findComment-1037220 Share on other sites
The Angelus Sanctus
Im hurt, i wasnt mentioned in the AotL cast :P Excellent work there Kraegus, very fitting for our chapter :D Any plans to add in a bit of a 'lion' motif? or will the finished product be looking similar to what it is now? Cpt_Tiberius
I think it looks great. My only problem with it is the sword on the sheild, it looks unbalanced with just the one wing, but I'm assuming that is the chapter symbol, so I doubt there is much you could do with it, beyound tilting it across the sheild, but then the sword in the back would look odd. Possible you could attach purity seals to that part of the shield to provide balance. Lovely rendering by the way. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90168-coat-of-arms-in-the-making/#findComment-1037237 Share on other sites

kraegus
AHH whoops, sorry Angelus :) the balance issue as well as the lack of gryphons isn't really a problem (or shouldn't be) the current crest is flanked by a gryphon rampant on the right and a lion rampant on the right the reason why there is only one wing is because it's a successor chapter. what you see is about half the end product. (only the centre bit has been drawn) for anyone who was wondering, It was drawn entirely on photoshop CS with a wacom tablet Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90168-coat-of-arms-in-the-making/#findComment-1037245 Share on other sites

Grand Master Belial
Looking good as usual Kraegus. Perhaps you can pattern the helmet off on of the Black Templar helmets. There is on that is close to what you have. Will this be added to your website? kraegus
okay here's an update: the stuff in brown and blue shows the rough for the rest of the helmet. The front mouth plate has been fully completed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v42/kraegus/head.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90168-coat-of-arms-in-the-making/#findComment-1038079 Share on other sites

Grimdarkness
It looks good but you might want to drop the rolled over upper part of the shield it looks strange to me.
